Hi!
We used to do this but it kind of petered out.....I'd thought I'd try it again since we have some new folks here lately.

Let's celebrate each others victories......the big ones and the small ones.

Today I'm proud that I got up extra early and instead of driving my dog to his grooming appt we walked it.  It was GREAT!
I'm also celebrating that I'm doing well "on maintenance".....I'm learning how to not lose weight, and not gain weight but life a rich full live and staying at the same healthy weight.

Sooooooo what have you done today that you are proud of?
Hope to hear from some of you!

Some good things I did for myself today:

I weighed/measured my fruit with breakfast and my protein w/ lunch and my snack to ensure reasonable portions.
I tracked my breakfast & lunch in my food journal

Hope you don;t mind me jumping in it's my first time posting to this borad. My newbie intro is below:

A little about me- I'm a a married mother of 2 young boys. My weight at the Dr's on 2/19 was 330; but my highest weight was 334. I'm a weekly weigher and Friday today I weighed in at 319.8. (BMI went from 50.9 to 50.1 :-)

I'm looking into WLS. I've always said that I *need* to be able to lose weight on my own. Then I thought...I used a indivudual therapist to help me work thru some life issues, a marriage counsler to work thru some marriage issues... so why am I excluding WLS as an option to work thru weight issue? Its a tool...I should consider it. So I am.

I plan on attending a seminar on 3/10. I've been reading alot on this site and can say that I'm not at all sold on WLS...if anything leaning more towards not...but will still learn what I can to make an informed choice that works well for me.

About prior weight loss stints..only one. I've only ever tried to lose weight once- and did so quiet successfully with weigh****chers. Went from 308-258. Maintained for a about a year before I I realized that I needed to deal witht the life issues that were causing me to pack back on the weight.  So I'm in a much better place emotionally to work on my weight.  I could do WW again..but really I know I don't need to covert everything I eat to points...basic premise of weight loss is calories in vs. calories out.

So now I'm watching calroies,  exercise 3X's weekly @ the gym,  journal every bite that I eat and am learning about WLS.

Hi, welcome to this side of OH! :)

I think it's wonderful that you are considering all your options.  More educated you are, the better..I think.  Hopefully once you see all those icky pounds melting off of you, you won't want or need the surgery!

Hello and welcome to the forum.  So glad to see you posting.

I weigh and measure my food from time to time to make sure I'm counting things accurately.  I too track my food daily.  I lost my weight by watching my calories.......as you said "calories in/calories out" is key.........I know this sounds weird but I joined WW to lose my last few lbs and so I could learn how to do maintenance.  I have a mental block with remembering the points values.....I still think in terms of calories.

My high weight was almost exactly the same as yours.  From my highest point I lost about 189 lbs making healthy choices and exercising 6 days a week (cardio daily and weight lifting 3 x a week).

Anyhow whatever you decide I hope you continue to post here.
Best wishes on your weight loss journey!

Hi there Ruth,

I've been lurking here and there.  Thinking it might be time to come back and start posting once again.  See if this board will come back to life!  It was a booming board before.

It's still very early today..it's only ten thirty in the morning.  It's Spring Break for the kids, got to sleep in.  Woke up to eight inches of snow since midnight last night.  Accidents going on, wind,  etc., it's a mess out there!  What kind of Spring break is this?!?! lol  They need to call it Snow Break!  Either that or I just need to move!! lol

My proud so far will have to be that this is my second day on plan and although I've already had bad thoughts, I'm still hanging in there.  Trying to work out the little devil side of me saying bad things wanting to sabotage my well being! :)

Trying to make my small victories into big ones!

I am giving one final push to lose this excess weight without surgery.  I am making all sorts of changes: I am going for counselling, I signed up with a personal trainer and I joined WW online.

So, for day, I am proud of the fact that I have journaled everything I ate, and I haven't used up my points for today - I can eat dinner!

Hi Heather.
WOW you are taking so many good steps towards reaching your goal.

So far as WW goes be sure to eat ALL of your points.  If you don't you will hurting yourself in the long run.

I started to think about WLS but then said I'd give it one last try to lose the weight on my own....I got honest with myself and I did it....If I could do it you can too!

Keep posting!  Let us know how you are doing.
Best wishes on your weight lose journey!!

Ruth, this is a wonderful idea - you've always been such a supportive and inspirational poster. I love your idea to celebrate each others victories - I always found that helpful - it's nice to see how people are doing who are ahead of you and great to cheer on those coming up behind you.

Today I'm wearing size 14 - regular size 14 not plus size from the department store - well actually from Ross dress for less LOL but were sold in Macys. My tops are gettig too big so I'm headed tomorrow to the mall to see what I can find for spring. I'm scared about potential issues I'm going to have because my bat wings are huge.

Holly - LOL on your spring break snow storm - yes you need to move where it's warmer. LOL

To the newbies - welcome. In fact we should take turns posting on the main board to let others know that this board exists - this is a great place for those who aren't sure or who are waiting for their date.

For those who don't know me, my last known weight was 326 but I may have weighed over 350. I started to diet about 16 months ago, first just cutting down the volume of food and then I read The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell which led me to Dr. McDougall's website and his Maximum Weightloss (MWL) Plan which is what I eat - all whole foods, nothing processed. Today I was thrilled to be 182.5. My weight is slowing down as I get closer to my goal. This was a huge lifestyle change for me and includes walking regularly in the mall - I'm now up to 3 miles. Here is a link to see what I'm doing http://www.drmcdougall.com/free.html This is his regular program, the MWL one doesn't allow ground up flour products so no bread. Look around on his forum = there is a secton where people are on the MWL and they discuss what they eat.

Hi Skylar,
Thanks for the kind words.

WAHOOO congrats on the shrinking dress size!  You are doing so well!!!!!
I like shopping at Ross too....I've gotten some cute "tiny" dresses from there.  After my next (and last) plastic surgery in a couple weeks I plan on going on a nice big shopping spree and you can be sure Ross with be one of my first stops.
