Hello
Have any of you gone to this 12 week program @ OSU?
I sought it out after my cardiologist ruled out surgical weight loss.
It stands for "Lifestyles" "Exercise" "Attitudes" "Relationships" "Nutrition".  I know I'm not ever going to lose it and keep it off if I don't change my life habits.

I'm hoping someone else has already been through the program, or is going to be attending soon, so we might help each other a bit.  If not, I'm going to do it any way and I'll let you know how I do as I go along.

Hi
Sorry I have not heard of it but I just wanted to encourage you to move forward with your weight loss efforts.  I was able to loss all my weight and keep it off only because I totally changed my lifestyle, my attitude and relationship with food and I exercised!  Sounds like you have found a good plan!  Let me know how it goes once you start.
Best wishes on your journey!
Ruth

Thanks so much for the reply and the encouragement. It has taken me a long time to realize that my weight always comes back bcause I haven't changed my lifestyle. When the diet was over so was my weight loss.
As I go I'll continue to post what's happening, so that maybe I can help someone else too.

I haven't heard of it - is it similar to Dr. Ornish's program which is offered at some institutions? I know that is very effective. I'm sure that this will be a very helpful program and maybe you can come here and share what you are learning. Smart move on your part to find this program.

The best book I've read is Dr. Essylstein's Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease - and his diet is the same as Dr. McDougall's Maximum Weight Loss which is what I follow. I've lost close to 10 pounds now in about 16 months with no problem, no hunger and I've lost my cravings for the food that I used to be addicted to. Check it out. I know that I'm thankful I didn't have surgery - there is nothing wrong with our digestive track, and will power has nothing to do with it either - it's the choice of foods that we eat. I eat only whole foods now - no highly refined foods. Here is a link to his website - tons of info, take some time to look around. http://www.drmcdougall.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=11
