Where to start?
Hi there. I'm Jessica and I'm about to be 26 years old in 30 days. I'm 5'6 and weigh 227 lbs. I'm getting married Nov. 6th of this year. All of these factors are keeping me on the verge of tears because I'm so unhappy with myself.
I've thought about going to see a weightloss doctor for non-surgical assistance but I'm worried that they're all gimmick doctors.
I'm trying to find a weight loss plan that can work for me but there's so many out there that I'm overwhelmed! I thought I'd been doing a better job of portion control and cooking healthier but I guess I was wrong. I'd love to find something with a menu already laid out.
I welcome any and all advice.

Hi Jessica,
Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Nov 6 is special to me as that is the day my grandparents were married.....I hope the day works out as well for you as it did for them.
Anyway...........
I lost all my weight by eating healthy and exercising. I know, easier said than done. I don't believe you need to spend a lot of money on a "plan" if you have time to cook healthy and do daily exercise.
BUT, I can imagine what you are going through right now. If you think a ready made plan will be best for you I'd suggest going to Jenny Craig. I did it once and when I was strict and followed the program I did lose weight but I don't recommend it as a life long solution. Once you get a handle on portion control and things calm down I would suggest you start cooking healthy for you and your soon to be hubby.
Feel free to PM if you have questions or want to chat about it....
Best wishes on your weight loss journey and your wedding/marriage.

Congratulations on your engagement - this is a time to be happy and rejoice, not to be sad. I've lost close to 160 pounds in 16 months following Dr. McDougall's Maximum Weight Loss plan - he has a book but there is free info on his website. http://www.drmcdougall.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=11 It's eating just whole foods, nothing refined and it's just the healthiest way to eat. Check it out.
You're wise to be worried about gimmicks, especially when it comes to weightloss. My plan is just regular food I buy in any grocery store.
