Welcome Jennah!!!
I've been around since 2007 working my way to VSG surgery. I finally got approved back in October and that's when I started losing weight because they required me to lose 10% of my body weight. I got a surgery date in early January for February 8th. I think once I actually got the surgery date, it really scared me. I ended up having to move the date because of work, and temporarily have a date scheduled for April. But I've actually lost a good amount of weight and I think when April rolls around, I may just tell the surgeon "thanks, but no thanks".
It just seems that after the reality of having the surgery scheduled, my mental state went to a place it hadn't been before regarding dieting. I haven't done any specific diet, I just try to concentrate on eating lean proteins, veggies, fruits and whole grains and beans in healthy quantities. I do allow myself treats when I want, but I just have a little, I don't go hog wild (pardon the pun). I exercise daily, but it's not like some Olympic training session, just walking, doing exercise videos, etc.
Good luck!!!
Terri

Bah ha ha...CalGal...You and me both eh? I think the best thing about losing this wt. is the NOT dieting...So cool that cutting back, making healthy choices WORKS! Love, not feeling deprived!
Ya, it does take longer than dieting, but I think this way it will stick long term eh?
How have you been doing with shopping for smaller clothes? I've been frustated as sizes VARY at different stores...Gah!
Take care,
Gael

I opted out of WLS too and I'm so glad that I did. I've lost 148 pounds so far and have another 50 to get to goal and the funny thing is I probably would have lost the same amount with surgery in approximately the same amount of time.
I send you lots of good luck vibes.
