The need to confess

I bought a brownie mix.  I made the brownies and substituted apple sauce for the oil, which lowered the calories somewhat.  I froze the brownies, foolishly thinking I could have a small one once in awhile.  I didn't touch them for two weeks, but never forgot they were there, waiting for me.  I touched them on Tuesday night, and then again last night.  I threw them in the garbage last night after consuming about 1/3 of the total pan in two nights.

I won't be baking any more brownies.  The thing is, I already knew from decades of experience that I could never have these in my house.  So, why did I do it?

Mary,

It was a weak moment, and you didn't eat the WHOLE PAN in ONE sitting!!!!  Please don't beat yourself up.

Make you a deal:  you don't keep brownie mixes around from now on, and I'll do the same with cookie dough!

Hugs,

Dear Mary:

I know just how you feel!  I gave into having some Christmas cookies over the Holidays, and it really slowed down my weight loss!  Now I'm into healthy food again, and it's coming off just fine.  I love brownies, too, and I don't dare bake them, either.

Good luck to you in the future!

Don't be hard on yourself, I know it can be hard having things in the house and not having them. It can be the same for me sometimes. I do always keep sweets in the house, I have a 17 yr old and she likes having those sometimes so there is typically always something here and for the most part I do well. I try to limit myself to 1 serving of whatever sweet I might want for the day. But last week I made some nestle toll house turtle cookies and I guess they must have been great because before the nite was done I realized I had eaten 6 and ended up with a horrible stomach ache, which seems to have taught me a lesson because I have them again in the house and haven't touched any.

My huge weakness is pizza and I have tried to make sure I'm not around it a lot. I can turn down sweets but I've never been able to turn down pizza so it's a food I try to have when I'm at someone else's house so I can have 1 slice and leave the rest there.

Just try to remember we all do have ups and downs as we loose the weight and don't be so hard on yourself if you make a bad choice sometimes.
