Weight Goal and how you set yours?
I have always had my weight loss goal at 150 pounds and figured once I got there I would likely at least go down to 145 possibly a bit lower. Right now I'm at 162 and everyone keeps asking me why I'm still trying to loose weight and telling me I really shouldn't go no lower. But for me I think I should at least get to 145. How did you all decide what weight you wanted your goal to be?

Hi, I think most people go by their BMI. It goes by your height etc. This way u know if your in a healthy range, but you could loose till your on the bottom part of the BMI range thats healthy for you.
Normal BMI Ranges
Normal BMI Ranges
Underweight | Below 18.5 |

Normal | 18.5 - 24.9 |
Overweight | 25.0 - 29.9 |
Obesity | 30.0 and Above |
Well, I would gnaw off my right arm to weigh 150 pounds but my hormones said, "Nuh uh, we aint' gonna let you lose anymore weight." So it stopped at 129 pound weight loss. But I've got news for those little so n sos, I'm going to be taking them to a Boot Camp style workout come the first of the year so I can take off some more weight...we'll just see who has the last word on THAT! I didn't come all of this way not to finish what I started.
Hmmm...at 162, a twelve pounds loss is going to make a pretty big change in your body so I would just wait until I got there to see about 145. It's really all about what you feel comfortable with and what you feel you can maintain. I've maintained my current weight for the last three years and in my opinion, maintenance is just as much work as losing so start preparing for the switchover, it takes some getting used to that delicate balance. This journey NEVER ends.
Happy decision making,
Mary

Dear Mary:
How are you? I am doing fine! I'm in recovery, because I did the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous in a Back to Basics Group. I eat six small vegetarian meals a day, and I love it!
Did you work the Twelve Steps by the AA Big Book, Mary? That's how I've gotten recovery, now.
Yours truly,
Denise Phares/HIGHPOW

Thanks everyone. I'm 5'5" have a fairly large build and according to my fitday.com BMI chart it says I should weigh between 111.2 and 150.2 but I know if I got down to 111 pounds I'd look very sickly. I would guess somewhere around 145 - 150 probably would be ok. I guess I will just wait and see how I feel about it when I hit 150 and go from there. Right now I'm in a size 12 and personally I'd love to be in a 7/8 but I guess I will have to see how that goes.
I am hoping I can get the maintenence figured out that's the one part I honestly am dreading a bit. It's the one part I've never learnt to do correctly. I am hoping this time since I made a lifestyle change and focused on why I was allowing myself to overeat that I will be able to maintain my weight.

I arbitrarily picked 150 as a long term goal out of the blue. The lowest I ever got was 145... and I worked HARD for that 145... and the MINUTE I stopped exersizing (like, literally, missed my 6 hour gym workout ONE day... ) I gained 5 lbs back up to 150. My body was happiest between 150-160, and so was I. SOMEDAY I'd like to get there again.. at 150 I was in a 7/8, and SOME 6's
As far as keeping a goal in sight, I'm focusing on 5 lbs at a time... seems much more attainable to me at this point. If I think to myself, "Okay, you have to eat healthy today so you can lose 130lbs and get back down to size..." I will most likely feel daunted. So instead, I say to myself, "You are 1/2 pound away from your mini-goal of breaking out of the 270's, don't 'F' it up!" type of thing.
Ultimately, I think the long-term goal needs to be something where YOUR body feels comfortable and YOU feel comfortable... AND you are able to maintain it without restricting yourself to a diet of lettuce leave w/ a splash of lemon, and 8 hours at the gym per day.

Celia I have done the same thing as I have lost weight had mini goals along hte way. If I had started out thinking I want to loose 95 pounds to get to 150 I would have just given up because it would have seemed so unattainable. But by having the smaller goals along the way for me they were a great motivation and everytime I hit one it gave me that much more motivation to keep working towards the next one. My goals were like yours break out of the 240's then out of the 230's and so forth. With my first big "mini" goal being too be under 200 pounds. And still right now I have another mini goal which is getting into the 150's. Which seems as though it's never going to happen but I know it will eventually.
I would never be able to handle a weight where I could barely eat and needed to spend 5 or 6 hrs in the gym I just couldn't or I guess I should say wouldn't do that. Right now I'm eating about 1400 calories a day somedays around 1300 but not often. And as of lately the only exercise I am getting is the 30 minute work out at curves 5 - 6 days a week. I did tonight finally break out my wii active and done it but I hadn't done that in a while. I just wanted to change it up a little so decided to try tonight. So I'm wanting a weight where I can eat around whatever my maintenence calories would be and just my typical workout that I'm getting now. I'm hoping that weight can be around 145 but I guess I'll have to see as I get towards that weight how my body reacts.

Dear CeliaBloom:
I take my weight loss goals ten pounds at a time. Now, I'm at 238, and I want to get down to 110. I'm morbidly obese, but I'm losing inches fast! I walk fast, just about every day, and I eat six small vegetarian meals a day!
I love eating peanut butter and honey sandwiches at night! I eat a large salad for lunch, just about every day, and I make my own homemade dressing, too!
Hopefully, you'll start eating that way, too, otherwise, you'll be starving yourself eating just three meals a day.
Yours truly,
Denise Phares/Highpow

Today was my 34th week weigh in and I held steady at the same weight I've had for the last 3 days which was 162.2 but I'm very happy with that because from last Sunday I have lost 2.8 pounds so that's a great loss for this week. Maybe in the next month I can break into the 150's. I guess I will have to see how that goes since the Holidays are coming up. But I did manage to get through 3 Thanksgiving Dinners and only gain .02 so that was a very huge accomplishment for me. I'm hoping I can have the same luck at Christmas.

How are you, Johnita? I'm doing fine. I eat six small meals a day, and I am losing weight slowly, and losing inches fast!
I eat vegetarian meals, and I love them! Especially peanut butter sandwiches, in between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. How I love eating this way!
