Cravings BE GONE!
Hello everyone,
I've come to realize that any successful eating habits consist of many "little tricks" -- things to trick your mind, susbtituting healthy options for formerly unhealthy ones, etc etc...
SOO...
In what ways do YOU deal with cravings?! Do you have healthy options on hand? Trick your mind into thinking you are eating a cheesecake when it's really sugar/fat free cheesecake flavored putting??? Please share!!
I do very well making healthy food choices DURING THE DAY. Once my family is home at night, dealing with the hustle and bustle of homework/dinner/bath/bedtimes... I end up craving some sort of sweet after it is all said and done.
I realize that this is emotional... I crave sweets to calm my nerves...
So how do you deal with cravings?????????

For me it depends on what I'm craving and why I think I'm craving it. If really hungry and not just bored or something like that and it's something sweet I am wanting I go ahead and have it and just log it on my fitday so I can keep track of how many calories I'm eating. For me I don't forbid any particular food because I know if I did I wouldn't last long plus I don't consider what I'm doing a diet I consider it a lifestyle change and I know it's not realistic for myself to think I'll never have ice cream, cake, cookies or things of that nature ever. I think the key is moderation. It's the one thing I'm trying so hard to stick to.
Also I don't know about everyone else but if I'm really hungry and craving something sweet like a cookie, I can eat a ton what would be considered "healthy foods" and not be satisfied and still want that sweet that I'm craving. So I a lot of times I would actually end up with less calories if I just went ahead and had the cookie if that is what I'm really wanting.
I think everyone deals with cravings differently and I know some people prefer to just completely give up the food that temps them I personally just can't do that but for some it seems to work great for them. Whatever you choose to do has to be something that works for you.

Whenever I get a craving, I do anything I can to stop me from thinking of food of any kind, good or bad, fattening or not. Since I am SUCH an emotional eater, I have had to work hard NOT to associate emotions with food at all. If I'm feeling emotional, I DEAL with the emotions and after many years of doing this, it's become a lot easier to do, it just takes practice. Lotz and lotz of practice.
