I know what you mean.  It sure is more fun when there are lots of folks playing.
There is plenty of activity on the varies weight loss surgery sites, no reason why we can't have lots going on here too.

Hope folks stick around and keep posting!

(((((Jan!)))))  I be luvin' this masself!  Now that my DH is on the mend and life is slowly getting back to normal, I have some time to sit down and chat with ma girls.

So it seems we both had a little trouble with our wagons.  I was up 12 pounds from stress eating and I've only lost six of them.  Yikes!  I'll have to work on that when I get back from Houston.  I'm leaving Wednesday to spend a few days with Kimmie and Sandy.  I can't wait to get there.

How are things going with you these days?

Things are not so great on the health front. Weight is up, B.P. is up, weird infection of the eyelids (bufilitus?) supposedly associated with aging. I'm 56 - aging is better than the alternative I'm told, but sheesh. My best friend is dating a woman more his age (old) and I only get to see him every 3 weeks or so.I get to talk every 2-3 days on the phone but his weekends are taken up with helping her with things. I am lonely with just the dogs for company. I envision myself become one of those old women who talks to her animals and shuffles her feet and cusses at the neighbors....
Work is weird - new group of folks, new office, same company. Well, at least I have a job (and it pays OK) so many people don't now. I am working hard not to get depressed and try to finish all the little projects around the house that I have postponed all summer. Kitchen backsplash is still not done - but heck...the rest is done.

I am so glad your DH is better - I told a couple of people I know about the stem cell in the knees thing and they were very interested in finding out info about the place doing the work. Can you pass on anything?

Thanks for asking - guess I needed to spill my guts a bit.
Say hi to Kimmie - I miss her around here too. This place helps keep me grounded.

Bufilitus???  Whydga go and get THAT?  I've never heard of it. I hope they have a cure for it, you're going to need to be able to see if you are going to be cussin' at the neighbors!  You don't want to be like Mr. Magoo and stand outside cussin' at a garbage can.

You need to get out more and make more friends if you only have ONE.  But that's how friends do ya.  They start dating and you become yesterday's news.  That's why you need 'back up' friends.  It wouldn't hurt if they were the kind of friends you could talk diet and exercise with, too.

Finish that backsplash woman!  I find that I do better with my diet when everything is organized than I do when everything is chaotic.  You need harmony in the kitchen to relax and have a good cup of coffee.  Otherwise, you are sitting there thinking of all you need to do instead of relaxing and that just makes you want to eat cookies or sumpn' detremental to your health...and waistline!

http://www.tcaway.com/  This is the link to the Clinic where DH had his stem cell therapy.  I think it needs updating because they are already almost done with Phase 2 of the protocol study.  This talks about Phase 1.  They are also doing work with stem cells in the heart and other organs.  Very interesting.

Don't get depressed, get energized with a good workout.  I know it sounds crazy, but the more energy you exert, the better it is for the mind.  There ain't nothing like kicking yo' own A$$ to make you feel empowered...just do it!

Spill your gutz anytime you want, it's better than eating your way through a situation.  Something about the typing in spilling your gutz that is cathartic.  LOL

I knew I was spelling it way wrong!
Blepharitis is an inflammation or infection of the eyelid.  - Probably staph since I had that in my nose a while back. I get to scrub my eyelids morning and night with baby shampoo or soapy pads or foamy stuff for 3 weeks and add drops to kill bacteria (they really sting) - the eyes are getting better and the red, itchy feelings are much better. I no longer look like the red-eyed albino hamster my brother had when we were little.

I know what you mean about getting the construction mess done! I have a large dog crate - 28x48" I use as an island. We made a counter top for it and it is handy, but it sure does collect tools and just all kinds of stuff! My second ex had a problem with my horizontal surface problem, probably one of the reasons he is my ex.
I have the accent tile for the back splash all laid out around the counters, ready to go. I just need to decide to start and do it. One step at a time, like everything I suppose.

You are no doubt right about the friends thing, too. Although I come from a family of hermits, I really need more than 1 Friend. Especially since he is now otherwise occupied most of the time. I just don't make connections with folks very often. Even when I was taking the dogs to the park every week I only made acquaintances. I have tried volunteering too and that really did not further any relationships either. Even going to W.W. meetings years ago did not lead to anything outside the meeting. We are just not a social bunch. My mom, grandmom, 2 brother and son are all like this too. It has to sound strange to a social southern girl like yourself.

Ummm....Jan, did you ever stop to think that maybe the reason you weren't making any connections at these places might be due to you looking like a red-eyed albino hamster?!?!?!  Good Lawd!  Even a social southern girl like me might be a little taken aback by someone sportin' red eyes...now that's just bizarre!  Thank God you are finally getting over that and can now try that socializing thang all over again.  And remember, socializing for hermits is kinda like weight loss...you have to be willing to put yourself out of your comfort zone to see results.

Yanno, I dabble in interior decorating and I've designed three houses before, but I've yet to see ONE PLAN that includes dog crate as island.  Is that a Pacific Northwest style or sumpn'?  Did you let Trueman design that???  I'm wondering how that works with your accent tiles?  Hehehe

Well, that unusual solution of crate-as-island was mostly evolutionary.  His crate was in the laundry area, just off the kitchen when I decided to rescue another 60 pound dawg.  Two crates would not fit in the laundry room but the kitchen is kinda square and the middle isn't really big enough for a kitchen table. Yes, I could put a bistro table and two chairs there but right now Trueman sleeps in his crate in the kitchen and Cindy Lou sleeps in her crate in the laundry room. So the crate had stuff stacked on it before the remodel -remember I a horizontal surfaces issue- and making it an island is just a nice upgrade - it actually doesn't look too bad since it now has a lovely Wilsonart high definition laminate covered top! It's just the junk keeps ending up there no matter how hard I try to find homes for all of it.
When the dogs are dead and gone the crates will go too and then I will get a little table or maybe a real island (I do have an extra cabinet that could work if I add rollers) this the house will not look like a place "dogs rule" which it really is right now. Heaven help me if I need to sell the place in the near future. i will be filling up a storage unit for months just to stage the place!
The red eye thing only started in September - but it was getting old, looking in the mirror and being reminded of a rodent.
Hey just typing this made me realize - I am my own horizontal surface issue! I've been laying on the couch every evening just like stuff ends up laying on the tables, crates, shelves... generally I'm acting like stuff not a moving object whenever possibele. Bad knees and feet are not a real great reason for this - time to take the cable box back to the vendor.
Luv ya, Mary
Jan
