Getting rid of clothes....

I've sent over many bags of clothes to Goodwill because they are too large for me know that I've lost 120 pounds. But I have a small problem, I have a small pile of tops that I just want to hang onto even though they are much too large. These are really pretty tops that were expensive, well made and in great colors for my complexion. I always got compliments when I wore them. These tops were my security blankets that I would wear when I felt a little insecure and unsure of what to wear. I've decided to hold on to them for a while longer. I'm hoping that maybe I'll pull them out in a few months or even a year from now and I'll be so much smaller that it will seem ridiculous to keep them. I also have two leather coats that are huge and there is no way I can wear them without people laughing at me or thinking I'm homeless, but I just can't let go.
Do you have these problems of wanting to hold onto things that don't fit?

Yes Skylar I know that I do! I went thru my clothes and found some that don't fit..but my problem of not wanting to let go is more of..i paid money for them and i just hate to GIVE them away..i figure i could sale them one day to be able to somewhat replace some of my clothes that dont fit. or I just have memories in certain clothes..and then some of it too is i cant help but wonder if i will need them again..scared of gaining the weight back..

If you really have some favorites (for whatever reason), why not take them to a tailor to see if they can be altered to fit you now? It may not cost as much as you think...certainly not as expensive as buying something new....and you can keep a few of the special ones.
Just an idea.....don't have that problem yet myself. I've still got a closet full that I can't get into yet...whole new wardrobe waiting for me.

some of my clothes that are in better condition, I have sold on e-bay and made enough to buy a few more items that fit me know, but i do still have a couple of dresses in my closet that are much too big for me, one in particular that i haven't been able to part with yet, but soon I will...

Yes. There are a few items I still have not gotten rid off. I've given away hundreds of dresses, suits, skirts, tops, pants, etc etc etc. BUT there are a few items I held onto but now they are just ridiculously big.
I am intentionally keeping my LARGEST size dress, blouse, and jeans (and a bra and panties) as a reminder of what I never want to happen again. Sometimes I take my size13 underpants and put my size 6 panties on top of them....now that's a site!
When I was losing weight I would sew seams down the sides of all my tops to take them in. I did the same with some dresses but at this point I just can't take them in.....
I've decided in the spring I will deal with the left over stuff. I am NOT holding on to them in fear of gaining weight again I'm holding them because I really liked them, paid a lot of money and hardly got to wear them. If I had not moved a few months ago I would give them to family/friends but at this point I need them to come visit and bring an empty suitcase or I'll deal with it next year.
Do you sew? Can you take them in??
