OK well I have been trying so long to lose weight and get started on a plan that works for me. You know I have lost a lot of weight before over 100 lbs and regained it. That time I lost weight I just happened. I tried one day and it worked. Now this time it happened that way again. Its just going great. Yes I am putting effort and doing the right things. But I ask why is it so easy now and the past two years I couldn't do it. Well to get to the point of the topic. The last time this happened to me I experienced a natural high. I was happy and always smiling and literally nothing could bring me down. For example now I am sitting here listening to Whitney Houston I wanna dance with somebody. And loving it. Any how I just find it interesting how I feel right now. BTW I have been this way since the day after I started this new lifestyle. And yes I am following a proper diet "lifestyle" with sufficient calories and nutrients. I am interested in hearing your experiences and thoughts.

Thanks,
John

Hi!
I know exactly what you are talking....I've been enjoying a "high" on life feeling since I started my journey.....and it got even better when I reached my goal and have been keeping it off (first time in my life I could maintain a weight loss).

FYI - for me the song that always gets me pumped up is "standing outside the fire" by Garth Brooks
Here are the lyrics...

We call them cool
Those hearts that have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk the tables being turned

We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned

But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire
'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire

We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all

They're so hell-bent on giving ,walking a wire
Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to fly higher and higher
I can't abide
Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

Hi,
I'm new here, this is my first post but I had to say that I've always loved this song but when I read it to myself right now...I began to cry.  I've lost 75lbs through diet and exercise since Jan 5/09.  And I feel like I'm finally out of the fog and I can see clearly now.  I don't just want to survive...I want to LIVE and be happy and do anything my heart desires...Thanks for posting the lyrics...it hit a cord with me!

If you were to see me or meet me you would so not think I like country music. But I love it. Music is also a big thing that has been helping me get thru this.

I don't know if  would call it a natural high, but I am feeling happy, relaxed and just so positive about the changes I made. I wish I knew exactly what it is that makes it all happen - then I could bottle it and send it to everyone who is struggling.

I understand the high.  Since I have made a conscious contact with my Higher Power, I am doing things differently in a way that makes perfect sense - compared to the way I used to do them.  I feel happier with each passing day, even though my sleep isn't always perfect, and I do sometimes feel tired.

My H.P. knows just the right way for me to do things, and it just amazing how little effort and yet I much I get done under His Direction.

High Pow.....I also understand what you mean. I have also made my feelings of euphoria and the effortless feeling as a spiritual happening.

Losing weight to me is like a natural high.  I can totally understand what you are saying.  I am a firm believer that how you view your life, and how happy you are, and how emotionally secure you are, depends on how successful you will be.  I have looked back on when I have succeeded in weight loss and every time I was happy and determined.

Glad to see you found your "high" again.  Dance away, music to me makes everything better.  Sort of funny, just the other day I turned on some music after feeling sort of blah.  Before I knew it, I was not only cleaning, but dancing around the house with my animals and singing with them with a dish in one hand and wash cloth in another! :)  Started thinking that music is one that that actually gives me my own natural high as I'm a music fanatic.  Think I've been in the "dark" too long during times I'm alone during the day!

Sounds like your body is having a positive reaction to getting all of the trash out and the healthy stuff in.  What gives me a natural high now is passing a mirror and liking who I see looking back at me...that's one helluva great feeling and one I wasn't used to for YEARS.
