Hello all,

I've never been on this site, but I noticed there are some good stuff here. I haven't had surgery yet and I say yet because there is a big chance i will say no I'm gonna do this the old fashioned way. Dieting and exercise. Anyways I've noticed alot of accomplishments here and it's encouraging and i get motivated when i read this stuff. The other forum i get motivated off of is the BMI of 50 or over. Those ladies rock over there, and they aren't starting out at 200lbs either, but they are definitely having the surgery done I'm still up in the air. One of my biggest problems I'm having is getting started past (going at least 2-3 weeks with discipline). What i would like to know is where did you guys start at (weight before diet) and how did you get there (sample of a menu for the day). I was thinking of doing the whey protein drinks for breakfast and lunch and having one good healthy meal for dinner, but wasn't sure if that would set me up for a failure to be starving later on the day. So I'm looking for suggestions and guidance to whomever is willing to help.
Also i would like to say keep up the good work with all the losses.

Hi, I started at 245 pounds and currently weight 179.2.  I don't really have a menu so to speak I allow myself to have whatever food I might want but within moderation.  The only thing I've really limited while I've been losing weight has been eating out and I've only done that a very very few times since starting to loose weight but other then that it's all just been about portion control and everything in moderation.  I write down every thing I eat so I know how many calories I'm getting I've stuck between 1200 - 1600 (on occassion I will go up to 1700).  A typical day for me vairies so much but I'll give an example.

Breakfast would be 1/2 cup fiber one cereal and 1 strawberry activia light yogourt.  Then lunch sometimes is 4oz lean ground beef patty with a white wheat bun, lettuce onions, mustard, pickles. then dinner might be 4 oz chicken, 2 or 3 different kinds of veggies and soemtimes a baked potato. Snacks sometimes are baked lays, carrots, low cal cookies, snack packs of crackers, skinny cow ice creams.  I don't of course have all these snacks in 1 day but that's just some different items I may have for snacks sometimes I have string cheese for my snack.

When I started this weight loss journey the other thing I did completley give up is soda I do not have any soda now what so ever.  I was only drinking diet before I started losing weight but I don't even have that at all now and haven't since April 12th.  I only drink water and green tea. I try to drink about a gallon of water a day but don't always get it all in.  I really think water helps with weight loss at least it seems to for me.

Hi and welcome, I stated my weight loss journey at a high of 322lb's and am now in the 240's I still  have a lot to go! I was going to have the surgery at first but never felt at ease with it, I kept searching and found someone on this site that introduced me to nutritional cleansing, It is a whole lifestyle, which involves replacing meals with a high quality whey protein shake that is a grade 7 undenatured whey sourced from new zealand, Organic and lower than 1% lactose, and also consists of cleansing the body of impurites, not a colon cleanse or even a liver cleanse but a total body cellular cleanse. This cleanse is liqued and it's high quality hearbs are sourced from all around the world. i have had great success on this program, and I cant tell you how well the cleansing has made me feel! The other things that are very important are the amount of good clean water  I drink, the amount of exercise I get and the types of food I eat on a regular basis, I stay away from processed foods as much as possible, I eat whole grain food that is orgainc without additives, I make sure and snack on good protein, complex carbs and good fats to keep my metabolism running, The idea is a "Clean eating lifestyle" cleaning out the impurities and repleanishing with with good clean nutriton, one thing is for sure, Dieting got me all the way up to 322 lb's and it is not about dieting but about chaning your view of food and educating yourself about nutrition and your body, So I dont count calories, I just know now what foods are beneficial to me and when I've overdone it, So that is my journey, good luck on starting yours, feel free to PM if you have any questions!

Michelle I was curious about your protein shakes you were saying you use to replace meals.  How many meals do you replace with them?    Are they something you have everyday or just a few times a week?

Johnita~
I have two shakes a day pretty much every day, I alway's have one for breakfast, then I will have another one sometimes just as a snack, sometimes as my dinner, it depends. They are the perfect blend of Proteins carbs and good fats, complete in Amino acids and vitamins My whole family uses them as a good staple for nutrition, My kids love them even my two year old asks for them.I love em and I honestly dont want to go a day without because I feel so good with them, I have run out and had to go a couple of day's without before and I sure can tell the difference

Hello!

I started at 450 lbs. and I've lost 235.8. I've been a faithful member of Weigh****cher's for the last 3+ years. If you are familiar at all with their program, I typically follow the Filling Foods plan (also known as Core) but I don't adhere stictly to those foods, but I do eat mostly from that food list.

My typical day of food looks like this:

Breakfast: plain oatmeal, soymilk, sprinkled with cinnamon, splenda

Lunch: whole wheat couscous, grilled chicken, yogurt and an apple

Snacks include: clementines, sugar snap peas & carrots dipped in low-fat/low sodium dressing, banana, nectarines, any kind of fruit basically, and an occasional fiber bar (like Fiber One or something similar)

Dinner: some type of lean protein (chicken, pork, fish, 96% lean ground beef for burgers) a baked potato or brown rice, veggies like broccoli & green beans, or a big salad with cabbage, sprouts, cucumber, onion, etc.

Dessert: usually a Skinny Cow ice cream or a Weigh****cher's cookie-

I lost my weight with Weight Watcher's & Zumba. I've lost 302 lbs. You can visit my weight loss website at www.freewebs.com/infectiouslaughter
I'll be in the Jan. 2012 issue of People Magazine's "Half Their Weight" issue!!
