Swine flu

You all know that i have pretty bad phobias.  One of them is breathing!  Seriously, when I get a cold I pray and pray and pray that I don't get a stuffed up nose even because I tend to panic.  Think it's due to the fact that I have trouble breathing from point A to point B...hence I have an inhaler I have to take every day.

Sooo...with this swine flu and what I've been reading about it I'm panicking.  I am in one of the elven states where it is widespread.  Everyone around here has been getting sick and I am a nervous wreck!!  Last night I even almost got a panic attack reading about it all.  When I get sick it goes STRAIGHT to my lungs.  So to me it's scary.

Anyone else heard much about it being pinpointed at obese people?  I had to dig a little bit to find some information on it.  They really are not saying much except for them having "medical conditions".    Another one I read it says they are putting obese along with pregnant people.  Anyone heard anything?  I"m going to ******vous wrec****il I'm able to get that shot.

No, obese individuals are not at greater risk than others. Populations at greatest risk for the H1N1 flu virus (AKA Swine Flu) are babies and kids under the age of 17. People who work in hospitals or long-term care facilities are also being encouraged to get the vaccine when it comes out.

FUN FACT: Those born in the 1940's actually may have developed partial immunity to this virus because it is descended from a strain that was prevalent at that time.

This virus is spread through droplet infection. If you are really concerned about contracting H1N1, my advice would be to always wear a N-95 mask, goggles and gloves when you will be out and about, in addition to wiping down surfaces like shopping carts and doorknobs with alcohol wipes. Now, I know that sounds more like Michael Jackson-type germ phobia, but if you truly want to protect yourself, that's all about it. Or just avoid all human beings until you can walk in to your doctor's office for the shot! :)

Yes, agree on other poster's comments  seems to be more about kids!

Hol, wash your hands several times a day.  Keep hands away from your face - especially if you have not been able to wash them or have been out in public.

I worked at a public school for many years - kids sneezing in my face alla time - and rarely got sick just by washing my hands and trying to be conscious of not touching my nose or eyes.

Those areas are where most viruses enter our bodies. If virus go into your mouth, the chances that your mouth/stomach acid will kill it are very great.

Don't forget to get both flu shots - both the regular flu and the H1N1 swine flu shot. Hopefully none of us will get any flu this year. Me DD#1, who lives in another city is just getting over a nasty flu which probably was the H1N1 swine flu.

Please ladies! Before you even CONSIDER getting a flu shot, do your research. We have chosen, after looking at the facts, to pass.

Since I now know that obesity and toxicity are linked, I believe there is a link between obesity and the risk of illness.

Remember that whey protein can boost your immune system by 400 - 500%, and that proper hydration, rest, exercise, and vitamin D are excellent flu-fighting tools.
