Frustrated!!
Hey Guys,
I'm frustrated and I don't know what to do.
I've been keeping a detailed food journal for over a week and keeping my calories at 1550 or lower. I've been walking a lot (5 days out of 7 last week for 30 minutes as fast as my short little legs can go, comfortably). Thinking I'm going to have big numbers this week, I hop on the scale this morning, incredibly optimistic.
I'm up 1 pound.
What the hell is going on with me??
Yes, I am *well* aware that 1 pound is nothing, but my point is; why the hell didn't I go down?? Even a little bit!!
My hip is killing me from walking so much and I'm literally in pain and getting nothing out of this. My efforts are worthless and I'm really pissed.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

It is frustrating - I know that I can go up two pounds just by eating a small amount of salt more than what I normally eat - I'm talking about a couple of sprinkles of the salt shaker (not even a teaspoon). So yes, when you look at my weight records since I started to keep them there is this up and down - but the overall pattern is what is important - that it's slowly going down.
If you really stepped up the exercising then it could be extra fluids - when you increase stress on a muscle, it naturally undergoes a breakdown and rebuild up into a stronger muscle and as a part of the breakdown a lot of lymphocytes and other types of cells in the body migrate into the muscle as part of mopping up the broken down muscle cells and for building of the new and stronger replacement muscle cell. If you really felt you were doing more and building muscles, then this will take a few days before it all settles back to normal in your body.
Needless to say, what you are doing is good. Keep it up and you should see the scale move some time soon.

I think we've screwed with our metabolism for so long that our bodies see a change in habits and say, "oh no, here she goes again....hang on to every fat cell known to man"! We know it has to let loose one of these days and you will see your whoosh on the scale. Maybe cut down on the carbs a little? If you're anything like me, your body is so sensitive to carbs that it really hangs on to tha****er weight.
You know you're doing the right thing....just keep on doin the do as Lori would say.
