26lbs...so far gone!
Hi ya'll...(If ya don't know my WLS saga, just read my profile....)
Ok, so I didn't write down THE day or month that I started losing....Darn, oh well, it was just so easy and gradual, that unless I weighed in at the doc's I didn't get obsessed about it....I think its averaged out to 5lbs. per month....
I believe it all began in early spring....So far, 26lbs. Yah, me!
All I've done is cut back, watch fats, added water....Iam not hungry, and if I want a "treat" I have it, I just don't have ALOT......Its working, and Iam probaly the most surprized about it.
If ANYONE woulda told me "Hun, all ya gotta do is cut back, have things in moderation". I woulda told them, NO WAY! Butt for me, the weight is really coming off....Amazing! lol....
My shoes are looser, shirts looser, I can walk WAY farther than before, and I have all these cool "dents" showing up where de fat used to be!
By the way, Iam no saint. I still eat at fast food places when Iam out and about, but I keep the choices limited. I'll do Taco Bell, chicken burritto, or bean, taco ect...No more nachos tho...At Subway, I have the simple sandwhiches like turkey & ham, and don't finish a small one. Its actually kinda frustrating trying to think of "healthier" fast food joints!
Now Iam ready to buy a nice pink bicycle! I figured if "Ruby" can ride around in broad daylight, I could do it in the evening when its cooled down (I don't do mornings) lol....
I just wanted to encourage people out there to say, that the old saying that the tortoise wins the race may be true....Slowly but surely.....
For me the best thing has been not berating myself for a "slip up", cause they are kinda built in, just not BIG ones... The other neat thing is that there are no more "I'll start on monday"s....Cause I just keep on going...
You're doing great keep up the amazing work.
Johnita
Hi Johnita! Ya, I couldn't swear off sweets forever....lol I was at a quilt nite Sat. and there was a potluck. I took a little of everything I wanted, had a couple of bites, then tossed the rest. I was satisfied...This seems to be working because I don't feel "deprived".
Iam sure as I get closer to goal I will have to be more strict, but for now this way of dealing with food is easy...I feeel like Iam no longer in a war with food...
Nice that we have found a rather simple solution eh?

I remember seeing you around the surgical boards and reading about all your struggles to have WLS and here you are being successful without WLS. Keep up the great work. And keep posting here to keep us up to date with you progress. We will support you and help you get where you need to go.
Skylar
Hi ya Sky! Yeppers, I've been around the surgical forums, actually just plain here at OH for 3 years this October! Yikes...lol
Its been a bit of a hard pill to swallow, realizing that WLS may never happen. Iam currently "enrolled", going through Kaiser's WLS process. I DO NOT intend to accept thier only options of Lapband, or Bypass however. For me, the VSG is still the simplest, least side effect WlS, and its either that or nothing....Me thinks it will be nothing...lol
I continue through Kaiser's program, cause, well, its gotten me to where Iam today...They require a 10% wt. loss before surgery. If that has motivated me to lose, so be it, now I can continue on my own...
The Kaiser where Iam going may, in the near future, offer the VSG to replace the Lapband, and at least I'll have completed the "requirements" if I ever NEED WLS in the future...Might as well keep it in my back pocket eh?
Thanks for your support, this weight stuff is an ongoing battle that we have to always watch out for...
