Hey everyone, tomorrow, our Babs...aka Donna...aka Big City Girl, is having surgery on her knee because she had a "blow out" of her right medial meniscus...ummm, sounds painful.  But she's a tough ol army broad and I know she'll come through with flying colors.  I'm praying for you Girlee.

Thank you Miss Mary!  I know everything is gonna go good tomorrow 'cuz I got Miss Mary's blessing!  And besides, I got all that company coming down here to make sure I don't do anything crazy - like show up at the gym the morning after surgery

What's wrong with showing up at the gym the morning after surgery?  You're still going to be able to do your upper body workouts, no? I Dunno

I will toss in a prayer also! They do amazing things with knees anymore. I hope all turns out very well for you.

Hey Donna, I hope everything went well with the surgery and hopefully you'll be back in full commission soon.

Everything went well in surgery.  My surgeon only had to remove 20% of the meniscus so that means that, barring any unforseen issues, I should be able to start running again (after 10 years of "rest") and more importantly I can do my tour job of walking 10 to 15 miles a day 12 weeks a year.

Of course, life always feeds you challenges when the timing couldn't be worse.  I woke up this morning, went to the refrigerator and it was warm inside.  Opened the freezer door and everything was melted down. . .  .  I have an expensive GE side by side refrigerator that is five years and 2 months old - exactly 2 months out of warranty!  So I limped into Home Depot today and bought an El Cheapo $600 refrigerator that won't be delivered until Saturday.  So I'm off to 7/11 to haul ice bags to put in the ice chest for my camp-out at home for the next two days.  I'ts always something. . . . .

Geeze Babs, talk about a good news/bad news situation.  I'm so glad to hear that your surgery went well, but I'm sorry to hear that you had to gimp on down to the Home Depot to buy a new refrigerator.  I hope at this point that you are laid up with your leg elevated and relaxing. Hammock 1Do you have to walk with a cane or crutches?

Get well soon,

No.  I get to put full weight on my knee.  It's very stiff and it hurts but I'm not taking any drugs.  I'm doing my own physical therapy - perhaps as early as tomorrow although the plan is for Monday.  The knee is very weak so I know I have lots of work to do at the gym to get it back together.

Thanks

I can understand working the stiffness out of it, just be careful not to do too much too soon.   I'm thinking that deep knee bends would be out of the question?  Ponder
