Hello All :o)
I haven't been to this website in a few years. I had a lap band for 5 years, doc put too small of a band in...caused all havoc on my esophagus (forced bulimia for 5 yrs)...had it removed a year & a half ago.....gained back 40 pounds out of the 100 I lost (not too bad....but not happy either!)
I have learned one thing from losing over 900 pounds in my life & wanting to try to have the sleeve....it is NOT about surgery for me...it is about eating healthy and moving my behind to lose weight. Making it a conscious lifestyle not a contraption to force me to eat less....
So here I am.....trying to stay in present time and eat when I am hungry and stop at full and make better choices and reeving up to move and burn calories.....one step at a time!
No diet or gimmick.....a lifestyle change....a way of being true to me....I have been going through horrible trials the past few years...and want to not look back and look to the prize of seeing a healthier, more enjoyable future!
I look forward to meeting all of you and your encouregement to move forward!
Dawn

I am so sorry you had to go through that, but I am sure you can get that 40lbs off again now! :) I was in the process of trying to get the DS several months ago and at the last minute denied because my husbands company was too small to be offered WLS coverage. (I thought it was weird)... so now I am trying to lose it on my own.. but right now I am also pregnant.. so my main goal to try (yes try... pregnancy will do whatever it feels on a womans body! lol) to maintain and maybe even lose alittle weight this time around. I gained my weight when pregnant with my son last year.. and before that I struggled with my weight my whole life, had lost it in college and maintained the 70lbs weight loss until i got pregnant. (about 4 years)

I am sure you can do it! I know we all can.. I have already read some amazing stories today (I decided this morning to come back to OH and join the non-surgical weight loss board) My ultimate goal, hopefully I can hold onto it... will depend on how this pregnancy ends I am sure... but I am hoping to be down to 180lbs (I am 263lbs right now) by around this time next year. I think if I have a goal... if I can visualize being in my old clothes again and being able to keep up with my 2 kids who will be under 2 (oh no! lol) and being able to just be happy with me.. I think its possible with support!

Anyway, its nice meeting you! Sorry again about the band but you have a bright future ahead I am possitive!

**along with your verse you might like this one.. its been my favorite one for years.. "Forgetting what is behind and straining towards whats ahead; I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" Philippians 3:13-14 You mentioned something about not looking back and looking forward.. thought you might like that. :)**

Hi Dawn! So true..no gimmicks, no tricks, just becoming good with eating less of the no so nutritious foods and geting more good stuff in.

I find that if we concentrate on eating balanced food:  one-3 serving of dairy, meats, grains, and 4-8 servings veggies and a couple fruit servings each day - there is not room for the "other" foods like sweets, booze, etc.

And if we need to take a walk to momentarily control ourselves, all the better.

Hi Dawn and welcome to the group.

I'm sorry you had terrible problems with your lap band. When I first began to research WLS I wanted the band - until I read about all the trouble people were having and I came to the same realization that you have. You're right - it has to be a lifestyle change and not a diet or gimmick because those don't last.

I've been doing a lot of research in eating healthy and the best thing we can do is give up all the heavily processed food that has no fibre and most of the nutrients are removed - you know, white bread, etc.

Congrats Jennifer on your pregnancy!!!
Thanks for you encouragement! I LOVE, love Philippians 3:13-14,

I like the Message version too: I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back!!

Thanks Neecee!! I am having problems with nighttime eating….ughhh….other than that I am doing OK!

You are soo right Skylar, I am staying away from processed foods and sugar… &  just like the bypass surgery…many regain their weight…yes it is an aide….but not long term…it is about lifestyle. I am so happy my lap band is out…I am no longer bulimic and now can choose to eat healthy!

It is so nice meeting all of you <3
