What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? Why Does Off Schedule = Off Pan?

Geeze, just reading about your February - May story made me want to eat sumpn'!  But you're right, there has to be balance.  We all have to learn to go and socialize and still stay on plan, otherwise we'll end up being normal and healthy with NO LIFE!

So for you, the unexpected = your toast.  Why can't life just not throw us curve balls?  Ummm...maybe we had better get better at going with the flow??? Bang Your Head

we are all creatures of habit! I do the same thing - one thing out of place in my day and I lose it.

I ate a biggo sandwich for supper last night and felt the same way - bloated - even after sleeping it off. Too much.

anyhoo, proud: I reconciled a problem with a long-time friend today. Interestingly, it had to be done without her input - long story short, she would not accept my apology for a perceived transgression and insulted me while she was at it. I have successfully forgiven her actions/words as of today.

How this is health related: could not sleep the past few nights over it, just mad, hurt, confused on what to do. That will affect my exercise and food choices - think the sandwich chow down had something to do with it.

Honorable mention:  exercised and ate well today!

"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not."   ~Mark Twain

You so crazy...you had to sleep off your sandwich. Rolly 3

What a great spiritual thing you have done...forgiving those who have transgressed against you is so much more for your benefit than there's.  You should sleep like a baby tonight!

I went on vacation last week with my husband, and now I'm off plan to some degree, too.  I went back to work this week, and ended up eating not only a frozen meal like I usually do at lunch, but 1-1/2 glasses of juice (one spilled), an apple, and a salad in addition.  As if that wasn't bad enough, I ate two breaded fish frozen meals at my client's today ****ep them there).  I tried telling myself that one was enough, but my will power failed (I forgot to ask for my Higher Power's Help, naturally) and I gave in and heated up a second frozen meal.

I need to turn each meal over to my Higher Power before I eat it, so I can get back on track again.  I agree with all of you about the change from the usual routine throwing you off.  My sleep schedule is screwed up, too on my CPAP, and now I'm back on sleeping pills!  I was going to bed at 10:00 every night and getting around 7 hours sleep, but now I'm waking up with alot less than that and feeling groggy to boot from the lack of sleep plus the pills.  Even though I needed the break from work, I hate trying to get back to a normal routine after being spoiled by a vacation!

At least we got some walking in during our vacation.  And we've walked this week, too, so far.  Not everything is screwed up.

Any little change seems to throw me for a loop, and I loose my wagon completly. After my last post about sticking to it for my health, yada yada yada, what did i do? fell off the next day. I need to find a way of coping with stress that doesnt' involve eating. While I was stress eating I knew I was stress eating, so I guess thats something, even though I couldn't/wouldn't stop.

My proud for today is that I'm back on plan starting today (and I MEAN IT this time!!) I had my surgery yesterday, a histeroscopy and d & c...I'm hurting today, but nothing I can't handle. I won't have the results of the biopsy till probably next week, so I'm trying to forget about it (now that the surgery's over I think I can) till then. This week is also finals week, had two on monday and one left for thursday, then I'm done till the 22nd when summer term starts. So my stress level is way down, and I'm thinking I can relax and focus on getting back on track. I'm super swollen right now, from the iv fluids yesterday and because of my binge overeating I think...hopefully that will go down soon, my legs and feet are so swollen it hurts to walk, despite being on a new diuretic for the past few weeks.

I'm also planning a camping trip with me and dd for the 17-19, her last day of kindergarten is the 16th, and I thought it would be fun. Any ideas for low carb camping food? i'm planning all kinds of meats to cook on the camp stove, and salad. I usually do hot dogs cause they're fun to roast on the campfire, but I'm trying to stay away from processed salty foods cause of my swelling...any ideas? also any  roasted marshmalllow substitue ideas??  Thanks!

     Dear Heather:

I am replying, regarding natural diuretics. When my legs swell, I drink Decaf herbal tea. I have found out tha****ermelon, celery, cucumbers, and asparagus are natural diuretics. (cranberry juice also) You mite try eating these, if you can, on your program.

I think going camping is a wonderful outing. I have fond memories, like making a complete dinner of veal stew, in a coffee can, that us girls made from scratch at girls scout camp. Baking a potato wrapped in foil, in the hot ash of the camp fire.( i could go on on.) Hiking, swimming  and learning about nature. How exciting, I hope you and your daughter have a great time.

I don't think somores are on the program,  but grahman crackers, chocolate and roasted marshmallows, are a once in a life time must try. (for your daughter)  I do not know of any alternative for marshmallows.
Hot dogs are the worst things you can consume, how about fish!  (wrap in foil, season,a little lemon juice etc.) Cook in the camp fire, bake . (camp stove you mite Poach etc.)

Are you and your daughter camping in tents? or a cottage?  I would like to here about your camping trip when you get back.
Here's to good weather and a lot of fun. Twilight

I'll keep that in mind about the celery, cucumbers and asparagus...I'm supposed to be eating more veggies anyway, and anything that helps!! I think watermelon has too many carbs for now, but I'll keep it in mind too!

I love camping! I wasn't able to go last summer because I was too busy with school, but I'm gonna make sure we go several times this summer, even with school! I got a bunch of new camping stuff two years ago for Christmas, awesome tent set, air mattress and pump, camp stove. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, and I cant wait!! I think I'm more excited than my daughter right now!  I'll let you know how it goes.  I'm not sure about fish...I have trouble cooking it at home, I can never tell when it's done. I love it, and it would be really yummy, but?? I'm already planning on at least letting my daughter roast some marshmellows, the chocolate in smores would be too tempting.
