What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? Why Does Off Schedule = Off Pan?
This is what happened. I was riding my little wagon along my merry way, working in the yard, getting ready for big company next weekend. All was on schedule and going great. I came in Saturday night and my stepstister in Georgia calls and says she is coming to visit...TOMMORROW! So instead of yard work, I spent Sunday going casino hopping on the Gulf Coast and yesterday I cooked and entertained all day. My stepsister left this morning and then I went to Biloxi with my friend to have a sonogram and some other kind of gram because her mammogram came back fuzzy. Everything with her is good, thank God.
I have to ask masself, why is it that whenever I get off schedule I get off plan? That makes no sense. It's like my brain can't change gears that fast so my diet can't seem to go with me in the opposite direction. Good thing is that I was mindful of my calories and I didn't gain any weight, but I'm bloated as all get out and feeling a little sluggish.
My proud for the day is that when I got home, I did interval training on my recumbent cycle for SEVENTY minutes. That's a biggie for me because I've never made it past sixty minutes. Tomorrow, I'll be back on plan and will stay on it even though company is coming next weekend. Imagine that, I never have a problem staying on plan when PLANNED company comes!

Mary, I'm not surprised - it's always harder when we get away from our normal routine. I dread going on vacation unless I have a very good plan on what and where to eat - what treats I will allow and what I won't. Otherwise it's like my brain has taken a vacation and the stomach rules completely.
Now that you're back home you'll get right back on track again. And good for the exercise. I just came back from my mall walking - I have really picked up the speed so I'm pleased with my progress too.

My proud is that I got back on track with my daily workouts and I INCREASED my cardio this morning to a 70 min bike ride (about 15 miles).
I've had trouble getting back on track...........I had plastic surgery 3 months ago and finally got back into a sort of good routine and then got a bad cold/flu that knocked me off my feet for about 10 days. I just couldn't get moving again...
I got the kick in the butt I needed on Sunday and have been stoked about doing my morning bike ride since.
Yipee for me.......

This knee situation is a mixed bag. I've had it since last fall when I attempted to be the Yoga Queen but found out that I was the anthesis of flexibiity. I would rest the knee and then I'd do a little bit of strenuous exercise and the pain would return like a bad odor . Well, on the last trip by about the fourth week in Rome my knee felt like it had Julius Ceaser's dagger wedged in it.
So, about the mixed bag, the xray showed two knees of a "20 year old man" according to the ortho surgeon. I have an injury and I will need surgery, the MRI will determine whether it is just a clean out or whether it's a repair job. If it's a repair job requiring lots of rehab it will not happen until November and I'll just have to do drugs this fall for 8 weeks on tour. The good news, after surgery I can run again which I never thought I would be able to do because I thought I had bad knees but I have great cartilege - just have a small tear. So if all goes according to plan, I get my knee cleaned out in the next ten days and I'm back in business - running- in a month!
And no matter what, Fly Boy is on. . . . . .

I always think that this is one of the hardest things. If I plan everything, I'm good. But if something unexpected comes up, I'm toast. I did really well for a while the beginning of this year. Then one weekend, I got a flat tire. Then two days later, I got ANOTHER flat tire. The following week, the brakes started making this god-awful noise. Long story shorter, it was about 3 weeks before I had my wheels back and in good working order. That derailed me the whole time. It was cold and snowy and I was being whiny because I couldn't get to the gym and it was too cold to walk outside. On top of that, I got a cold that knocked me out for a good five days. That was February. It took me til May to get myself in gear, gaining 9 pounds in the process.
Honestly though, when I was in full blown losing/maintenance mode, it was almost socially crippling. No spontaneity. Eating out was stressful, parties were worse, it was easier to just focus on my eating plan and workouts. I also know that I can't live that way again, and I need to find a good balance.
My proud? BACK AT THE GYM! 20 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the bike. WoooHoo!
