So I've always heard we should have 3-5 servings of veg/fruit each day.
Today on the TV show "The Dr's" they said 5 is the minimum and that the current thought is 11 servings.

Has anyone else this?   I love fruit and veg but wonder if that is too much carb..........
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Ruth

I have heard this as well Ruth, that is why im a firm believer in isagreens and isafruits, (these are the ones I use) but you can find something similar in any natural/health food store, I get the equivalent of 30 fruits in one scoop and like 8 Large serv. green veggies in one scoop of the greens with out all the sugar and carbs!

Hi Ruth, yes, everything I've been reading has more than 3-5 servings of fruits and veggies. However you are to be somewhat more limited with the starchy and fatty ones such as potatoes, avocados and some fruit. Eat generously with non-starchy ones like lettuce, cauliflower etc.

LOL I don't even consider the starchy veg like potatoes, peas, corn, etc as "veg". I lump them into my "carb" category.  When I'm talking veg I'm talking about tomatoes, peppers, cuc, zucchini, asparagus, broccoli, beets, carrots, cauliflower, spinach, green beans, cabbage, and other stuff like that.  I eat lots of them!

I try to eat more veg than fruit but in the summer with all the fresh melon and peaches, and stuff it's tempting to have lots more fruit.

I know what you mean by the wonderful fruit - DH and I just polished off two fabulous mangoes. I adore mangoes.

I am told per USDA guidelines that 2.5 cups Fruit & vegetable combined per day should be the goal.

Most days, I get that.  i do have to work at it!
