LOL - I found a surprise stash of chocolate bars in the freezer yesterday. I actually went into the freezer looking for a piece of bread to eat as a very late lunch. I didn't know DH had taken the bread to work - and when I found these chocolate bars, well I thought I'll have one - it can't hurt. It tasted so good I had to have a second. I even called DH at work and tried to talk myself out of it but that siren song was tooooooooo strong and so the second one was gone.
Today I ate the last two instead of eating lunch. That's it, they are gone, finished, no longer calling me. At least this time I cut them into small pieces and slowly enjoyed them.
I don't feel guilty, it's reality, I can't be trusted around European chocolate and I won't have anymore in the house. Lucky for me it's not easy to find European chocolate here, except in very pricy specialty stores so I'm pretty safe. I believe these were brought back from a trip last fall.
It tasted good, I enjoyed it and now I'm back on my wagon and travelling that straight and narrow road. Just a bump on the road.
One thing I've learned in the last few years is that just because you fall off the wagon doesn't mean you stay off. No you jump right back on and don't look back. I think more damage occurs not when you first fall off the wagon, but from the extra days, weeks, years etc. that it takes you to get back on.
I don't think I'm the only one who falls off the wagon?

If you didn't fall off the wagon once in a while it would mean you are perfect. Join the club....I've fallen a few times myself over the past 18 months.
The important thing is not to beat oneself up over it for too long. OK, it happened, we know we can't do it too often and we move on. Just tighten the ropes for the next couple days and net/net you'll be fine.
For me, I can't have potato chips in the house...can't be trusted around them. As the commercial says "can't eat just one"!
Have a good rest of the day!

Skylar, how smart of you to get those chocolate bars out of the house before your husband could be tempted to eat them! You are sooo good to that man.
Nope, you're not the only one who falls off the wagon. Girl, I've fallen off of the wagon so many times, skid it into buffets, ran it into a ditch, and jumped it for a wagon full of carbs. Mine is due for it's 80th set of wheels and a new paint job!

Thanks - yes, I'm back on track. DH is lucky I ate them - but he was probably the one that bought them for me LOL
Okay, back to basics.
And I can't have certain potato chips in the house either - hey I could fill an average sized grocery store with the stuff that I can't stop eating and therefore can't keep in my house. LOL

Everyone falls off the wagon from time to time, if they say they dont, they are lying! but I think the important thing is that you enjoyed it! I think it is so important that we live in the real world! it's not like you are eating healthy and losing weight so you will NEVER have a treat again, no no no, I think a treat now and then is a good thing! as long as you keep a healthy perspective about it, and it is only every now and then, I have found that i enjoy treats so much more now when I allow myself to indulge, like for my mothers day getaway last month hubby and I went to a wonderful restauraunt and for dessert we shared a chocolate cake thingy with vanilla ice cream and it was yummy, and I was glad to have splurged and I WILL do it again, the difference now is that those things dont RULE my life anymore, I am not always looking for the next fix, the next event where dessert will be served, or bringing it into my home. Thats my 2 cents! on the program that I follow we actually have isadelights which is a very dark chocolate with added amino acids and B vitamins, they are soooo good! dang I need to order me another box of those!

Well at least you are not blaming the FOOD...that one slays me when people say that. YOU picked it up, therfore YOU can put it down again.
1-2 bars of Euro choco will not make you gain 5#. 1-2 bars a day for a month may well do so plus. Big difference in that comparison. Didn't take me tooo long to do the math for myself and what I will choose.
My long battle scars will tell that when I choose this behavior, the very next meal is back on plan. Is that a 100% money back guarantee? ...no, but It is about 98%. If it tumbles into days, then weeks - for shame on us.

Thanks for the replies. Well I did get back on the wagon - but then I fell off again when DH brought home large bag of pistachios - I love pistachios. He is officially not allowed to bring them into the house again. And I quickly jumped back on so I'm doing okay.
I am thankful that despite all this indiscretionary eating I still managed to lose weight this week.
