Hi Y'all,

It's been a while since I posted but I am still here fighting the good fight. The weight is crawling off so slowly these days that it is truly faith that keeps me going. I am not ready to give up yet though and as long as I lose the occasional pound here and there, I know that one day I'll make goal.

I plan to update some pics after this so check it out if you like...I really like taking pics now:-)

I realize that most of us are in a hurry to lose our weight, but losing weight slowly is not such a bad thing, in my opinion.  I've been losing anywhere from 1 to 5 pounds a month, and I'm not in a hurry any more.  I'm not sure, but losing weight fast may be harder on your body than losing it slowly is.

I know at the rate I'm going, it will take around 4 to 5 years to lose all of my weight (I'm currently 261.5 and want to lose down to around 115).  I used to be in a hurry, but my OA friends have convinced me to give up the "diet mentality" in favor of liveable eating, one day at at time.  I can't stay on regimented diets anymore, but I can be abstinent (refrain from compulsive overeating) one day at a time, and eat three moderate meals a day, choosing healthy foods most of the time.

I do have an occasional treat, but not every day, and not in large quantities.  Good luck to you!

Yeah that sounds like me. I started losing very quickly but it has slowed to about 1 to 5 a month too.  I think it might take me that long too to lose the weight but it took me a lifetime to gain it so I guess 4 years to lose it isn't so bad. I am just hanging in there and thanks for your response. It is these very responses that keeps me going because somebody took the time to encourage me

Girl, where you been?  OMG, you look so cute in your new pics...and I must say that you carry your weight so well that no one would ever guess you weigh what you do.

I'm so happy to hear that your scale is moving in the right direction.  Now that you have gotton some poundage off of you, and your weight loss has slowed down, it may be time to stop and re-evaluate your plan. It may be time to lower your calories to adjust for your new weight, or up your workouts to include some cross training and shake those muscles up.

Never give up! Hippie 1

Hi sanja! Boy howdy, at times we all feel this way:  just keep on keeping on. I know that most of the time anymore I have to focus on what feels right with me rather than that darn scale>

All you can do is ask yoursefl:  what does feel better in this new way of eating?  For me, less bloated, better sleep, etc.

As Mary says, it may be time to take it up a notch, too. Only you know this.

Good to see you around!

Wow, you're so beautiful, especially when you have your hair styled down to frame your face. It's healthier but oh so frustrating to lose weight slowly LOL But you're doing so well

Thank you guys so much for all your encouragement. It means more than you all will ever know. I have started  to increase my exercise by swimming laps almost everyday. It's the only form of exercise that I enjoy so I am sticking to it. I spent too much time trying to keep up with stuff I hated just  to drop it in a couple of weeks but not anymore. I am sticking with what I find fun. I plan to join a dance class when it''s too chilly to swim.
