What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? Time Management
Hey Everybody....I'm Back! My husband's surgery went well but was slightly more complicated than his doctor thought, so he ended up spending one night in the hospital and all of the next day. His recovering is going very well but that seems to be more complicated than I thought, so I'm dealing with this taking up ALL of my time. Unless he's asleep and then I get to play catch up.
Unfortunately for my diet, the day I was supposed to get everything prepared for that was the day the air conditioner guys decided to come to find the leak in the system and they were in and out of the house all day and in between that people were coming to visit DH before surgery. So I've been eating the same food I feed DH for the last five days now. The good news is that I haven't overdone it and I've only gained five pounds which for me is not bad cuz I CAN GAIN a lot faster than that!
Which makes me think about how vital time management is to our weight loss efforts. Normally, I stay on top of having things prepared for my diet like it's a part of keeping the house clean. It's all a part of the plan and it has become second nature to me....I'm convinced I never would have lost 129 pounds without being consistent with that. I only brought this up because it's something we all need to examine and make sure that we have a handle on.
My proud through all of this is that I didn't drink any Pepsi! I'm addicted to it and it's all over the hospital. Me not giving into it is a HUGE Proud!
It's good to be back, I missed ya'll,
Mary

Welcome back, Mary
- I was afraid it was DH complications keeping you away. I'm glad he's doing better and you only gained 5 pounds.
I'm proud that I am figuring out how to do the prep for a colonoscopy without going completely off the program - not real easy the last 2 days, by the way.
The scale continues to inch its way down. Road trip this long weekend to Mom's so that will be interesting to do. The last time I had not started Atkins so this is a new challenge for me.
Jan
Jan! I just read your test results from your lab work and I can't tell you how excited I am for you. Girl, you are rocking Atkins! I'll be back to rocking it again tomorrow cuz I'm miserable eating this overly processed, refined carb mess that my husband eats. I ate dinner at the hospital the first night and the turkey had filler in it, yuck. Why can't they just let a turkey be a turkey? I should have known when the shape was round that it wasn't real!
Girlee if you can pull off a colonoscopy and a trip to your Mom's without going off plan, I'm going to give you a special trophy!
Hey, did you see that Baylor on the Atkins site is down to 188?
She's my hero!

Why thank you ma'am, resisting Pepsi used to be the hardest thing I ever had to do, now itsa notso bad. But then again, I'm not exposed to it like I was in the hospital...geeze they've got some junk food up in there!
I'm pretty sure that the five pounds is all bloat so it will all be gone in three days. Three miserable days of refined carb detox. Besides, I miss my salads. It's odd cuz before I started Atkins I never ate vegetables or salads and now I feel terrible if I don't get my two salads a day. Seems I've traded one addiction for another, but at least this one is healthy!

Hi Mary, I must have missed why your DH was having surgery, but I'm glad to read that he's doing well and recovering.
I'm terrible at keeping food made ahead of time and that is compounded by the fact that DH won't eat leftovers. Instead I keep myself stocked with items that I can throw together quickly for a nutritious meal. It's also easier that DH and I are on the same track food wise - we have no junk in our house.

Wow, what a luxury to have your husband on the same plan as you. It's got to make life so much easier not to have to deal with fixing separate meals for yourself. I'ze jealous!
No leftovers? Hide them in the back of the freezer and then later, act like you just cooked them! A girl deserves to have a day off from cooking now and then, no?

5 itty bitty lubs is nuttin! You can do it. Getting out of our routines equals 3 pounds up. Things like this happen!
I agree 110% that time management is vital to success. I like that term a lot for this conversation - it is more than my pet named planning.
Somebody once said that we all have the same 24 hours - how will you spend yours? We can sit around whining about how fat/ugly we are...or we can do sumpthin about it.
Most of by this stage of life know very well the behaviors that contribute to our big asses and sunken egos.
Glad to see you, my friend! Hospital life is very stressful and not exactly health friendly. hmmmm why

"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not." ~Mark Twain
You would think that this hospital would have had at the very least a diabetic menu, but "nooooo", the closest thing they came to that was some old fruit and a dried up salad covered with saran wrap. But I suppose they make money with all of those vending machines and we all know what's in those. Nothing Atkins approved, that's for damn sure!
Speaking of time management, I think I've started taking for granted that my husband loads the dishwasher and washes the pots and pans. Don't tell him I said that. But I've forgotten how much time that takes! I suppose that's the price I pay for trying not to eat processed foods and cook everything masself.
How you been woman?
