Got a Wii Fit and lost 3 pounds without it!

Just wanting to blab about a small proud moment.  The past couple weeks I've took baby steps and cut back on soda (only when eating out) and sweets.  My portions have probably stayed the same.  I went to Trader Joes Saturday and stocked up on some healthier dinner stuff.  I've also been visiting the farmers market once a week.  I bought a Cherry Dr. Pepper Sunday for Mother's Day dinner at my mama's & had only one cup.  Brought it to work Monday and tried to drink a cup, threw it away.  Also, I bought all the stuff for my mama's dinner with all fresh fm veggies- grilled bbq chicken, grilled squash & zucchini, new potatoes, onion & peppers (not for me), summer salad with red romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, goat cheese crumbles (TJs), & Tuscan Romano dressing (not for me), and for dessert sliced strawberries with sugar, angel food cake sliced thin (bought a small one), & FF cool whip.  I didn't buy bread and it was pretty healthy I think and everyone loved it.  I also bought a huge Biggest Loser ball thing, but kids have used it more than me so far.

So, for Mother's Day my mama got me a Wii Fit!  Yes, my mama buys me a present for Mother's Day from my kids.    (I did cook/buy everyones dinner & buy her some cool pjs).  I had kinda hinted as she wanted me to spend $100 or so on new capris & clothes on her cc, but I don't want to buy this size, so I told the kids if grandma asks tell her I'd like a Wii Fit.  First thing when they go shopping & she asks them what I'd like, both kids (7 & 8) keep telling her mommy wants a wii fit, lets get her a wii fit, so she asked them I told them to say it- they said yes, hehe.  So, she brings it over Saturday b/c the kids couldn't wait and we hooked it up.  It is super fun and I am currently the hula hoop 1st place in my house.  The running is challenging, I keep almost running into the tv when the little Mii waves to me and I try to catch up.  Anyways, the Wii measures your BMI & weight and I've lost 3 pounds!

Yay You!  3 pounds, that's not a small "Proud", that's a biggie.  And congratulations on laying off of the Dr. Chemicals, I mean Pepper.  If he's a doctor, he's Dr. Death!  Corn syrup solids is what is making this country fat so you are one smart cookie to leave it the hell alone.

Have fun with your new Wii Fit,

Mary

Thanks Mary! Lol at Dr. Death.

I'm down 4 and a smidgen as of last night.  I did a whole 19 coins on the wii last night and I am still the reigning champion over the Super Hula Hoop though my dd is trying her best to beat me.  Guess I got more hips to shake, lol.  I might skip the floor workouts for now, had to heat pad my side after doing the Jack Knife (reach legs & arms in air with body forming a v shape), whew!  The yoga is really fun too.  My center of balance is off though, I'd never realized it but I put all my weight on the back of my heels and more on my right side.  When I lean to get my dots centered putting the weight more distributed on the balls of my feet it feels like I'm going to tip over.

I did so some crunches (like 20....) on my super bouncy workout ball this morning.  It was like $14 at Tarjay and makes them sooo much easier.  I had tried doing them on the floor and no way can I lift up enough reps to tone anything..  When I was in college I used to take Fitness class, step aerobics, self defense, and aerobics 2 (2 classes per semester) so I was really good at this stuff and floor crunches were so easy back then.

Well Girlie, you are just shrinking as we speak!  Now please don't take this the wrong way, but puttin' on a couple of pounds and having kids added to the unkindness of the years = practically impossible floor crunches.  Besides, it's better for your back to do them on a ball anyway, and they are also more effective.  So let me ask you this, alla that fitness stuff you did in college, how did you get away from it?

And watch yasself there Miss Hula Hoop Queen cuz you don't want to throw out sumpn' you are going to need later!

No worries here, I totally agree with ya.

I had grants to pay for college and really got into the classes esp since they were free, awesome instructor.  Anyways, I married a dumbazz and divorced him a year later.  Doing the whole Suzi homemaker thing cooking and all plus a lot of junk going on.  I also had always been on the go school or college, then work on a sales floor or restaurant on my feet, or then parties, cruising, sleepovers.  When you get a 8-5 sit on your butt job then come home and watch tv 5 days a week I just got really lazy.  At this point I'm probably about the same size, just lazy now.

After I divorced, a few months later I met current dh and a couple months later I was preggo with dd & six months later ds, gaining 140lbs but not losing a lot of it.  I was so tired taking care of both of them and working ft, the couch is the nightly spot.   I've did different walking lunches with co-workers and stuff but no real daily exercise since my pre-baby years (and they are almost 9 & 7).

wow - that's great news. Very clever manipulation LOL

How do you do sit ups on a ball? Maybe that's something I should do to? I just got a Wii Fit too but I also just had  a minor procedure on both my large toes so I won't get ingrown toes - when they heal I'm going to be a Wii fit player too - so just wait till I catch up to you with those hula hoop moves. LOL On serious note, I'm looking forward to the wi fit after reading your great results.

Hi Skylar.  Its really easy to use the ball- my ds showed me lol.  Sit on the ball and scoot down with your feet on the floor knees bent and laying back on the ball with your hands behind your head.  Bring your elbows/head forward towards your chest/tummy area then lean back and repeat.  No pain at all.

Thanks for the feed back and for the wishes for my toes. LOL I was so scared to get my toes done but I know it's a small aggravation now for never having ingrown toes again.

I'll have to check out one of those exercise balls next time Im in target.
