Low down, at the doctors.

Today, I went to , one of my many doctors  (weight loss and cholesterol Dr.) and I am afraid to say: I am the same. The same like I have been the last , now seven months.  what can I say???  the good point is, I didn't gain. even thought I walked a lot of miles ( 85.0 miles in Five week, about 17, miles a week, between 2-3 miles a day.) just reading that makes my feet hurt. Now my doctor wants me to increase my miles to 3, per day 7, days a week. (o joy)
He also mentioned adding bike riding. (no bike, have to get one.) I guess for every half hour of peddling you burn up 3,000 steps (which i can add to my steps.) That's an added bonus.!

The kind of good news is that my sugar is so good, that  he doubts that I will be on my diabetes medication much longer. I will have to see in July, when I see my diabetes doctor.
imagine no more needles, twice a day!!!!!  Well that's all I have to say, except I mite stop off, at the doctors, before July, to get an official reading on my weight. July is still a ways off.

I think that being able to get off the med's is a MAJOR accomplishment! even though the scale did not move you know you must be doing something right to be in control of your sugar like that!  Congrats on a HUGE step in the right direction!

Way to go Twilight!!! yes

Hey, when you are looking at bikes, be sure to look at recumbant cycles.  They have what I call Big Butt seats and they take all of the pressure off of your spine.  I LOVE mine!  Heather found one for thirty dollars at a garage sale.  How cool is that?

    Dear Skylar:

Yes, I do have a pedometer. Before I got one, I didn't walk much. I have found out, that wearing one challenges me to move, and now I can see progress. I wear mine all day long. You would be surprised, at how many miles we put in, in just walking around the house cooking, and cleaning. I really pack on the steps when I go shopping. When I park my car I try to park, as far as I think I can handle walking to and fro.  I do not know why, but since I started walking my knees and feet hurt, On the longer walks I get real stiff the next day. You would think by now the old bones, would have limbered up by now.  I do wish the weight would start moving downward. Maybe if I start exercising, like they do on Biggest Loser, maybe I can turn the tide.

Regarding my cholesterol:  I am not sure, what my numbers are, because of the last (3) Dr. visits,(6 weeks apart), gone in fasting, but he didn't take the blood test. I think part of the reason is I have not tolerated the satins, or the older myths, now he has me doing it through diet and exercise. I think I need, to be more aggressive in me working out. The worst thing I remember was my lippoproteins, they were high and of the smaller size lippoporteins, which isn't good. He said it is better to have the large size. The good thing is, that exercising can make that happen.
Maybe on the next visit in June, he will take the blood test, so I can know were I am.

Twi, that is a pretty darn good report! Sometimes we have to be glad of the weight we did not gain. I feel ya on working so hard for that, but hey, all part of this drill.

I think that is awesome about your meds. Keep it up!

Wow, if you can get off your diabetes medication that will be a great achievement even if the scale hasn' budged. How is your wonderful exercise doing with your cholesterol numbers? Is is having a positive effect?

It's great that you're doing all that walking - do you have a pedometer to measure how far you're walking? I used to own one and it was fun to check each day however they are so cheaply made that mine broke. Now I walk in a mall that is exactly one mile around or on my treadmill where it measures the distance and speed. I'm trying to get up to 5 miles a day although right now I'm doing well at 3 miles and anything more is a bonus. I do take 2 days off randomly during the week, but maybe I should consider doing my walks 7 days a week too?
