Very, Very, Very FRUSTRAITED
I have been doing Atkins for a few weeks now and really have only lost a couple pounds. Every said that when you start Atkins you loose a bunch at first and then slow down. This didn’t happen for me. I have only been loosing about ½ to 1 pounds a week. At this rate I feel like the weight is never gonna come off. I am so anal about everything that I put in my mouth now. It got so bad that my mom made me dinner the other night she knows I’m on Atkins and so she made chicken wraps using Napa cabbage instead of tortillas. So I started eating the wrap and then after a few bites realized that she mixed in some rice. I immediately stopped eating and I got so upset. I can’t believe I am saying this but I actually considered making my self get sick to get rid of the rice. I didn’t do it but felt like I had ruined my whole day. I get so frustrated and upset that I just want to give up and say oh well guess it’s meant for me to be fat for the rest of my life. I just don’t know where to go from here… Sorry I know I am probably just venting but I had to get it out….
Trust me, if there is anyone who understands your frustrations about slow weight loss...it's me. It took me six YEARS to lose my weight.

Don't give up!
Slow and steady wins the race. I know it's nice to loss 5 lbs a week but personally I'm not convinced it the healthiest way.
I've lost just short of 150 lbs now and I did by losing on avg 1.25 lbs per week. Some weeks it would be 3 lbs, some weeks 1.1 sometimes .09 but it has come off.
I have been exercising daily since I started on my plan in Nov 2007......at first I didn't loss anything the first 3 weeks.......why??? Because I was building muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. I didn't gain but I didn't loss (maybe 1/2 a lb in 3 weeks). That really meant I was losing FAT while building muscle. Also, I was actually more than I used to. I spent so many years STARVING myself on diets that my body got used to only get minimal calories....suddenly I filling it with lots of healthy food.
Here are some reasons why you may not be losing as much as you could..........
1- Are you drinking plenty of water? I drink about 12 cups a day.
2- Are you exercising? Do you exercise with weights? If so you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.
3- How many calories are eating? Are you sure it is enough.....if too little the body will go into starvation mode and store fat!
4- Do you measure your portions..........I was SHOCKED when I started doing that....I found that the piece of chicken I thought was 4 oz was really closer 8! Also, just because it's fruit or veg they have calories and need to be limited...
5- Eat more Veg rather than fruit....fruit has more sugars (but then you are on Atkins so you probably don't eat much fruit)
6 - Eat healthy fats........Flaxseed oil can actually help you break down fat in your body.
I could go on but don't want to bore you.......... feel free to ask questions if you want to discuss more.
Good luck on your weight loss journey. Trust me, If I can do at this stage in my life you can too!!!!

Nijaz...I zeroed in on your temptation to purge the rice! You seem to be developing unhealthy attitudes about food. Plans like Atkins that delete a food group can contribute to that - but more importantly, your attitude plays a huge role.
You stopped eating it - that was enough. If it were me and no other "legal" food was around, I would have eaten it and got back on my next meal.
Atkins may not do it for you, but do give it more time! A few weeks on anything is not long enough. Try to zon ein on the positives about it: do you feel more satisfied? less bloated? see what I mean? The scale can be **** poor indicator at times - take/track measurements to help keep that chin UP!
There will be days like this...this is a slow boat ,most of the time! Vent away, but keep your head. Slow & steady, then after about 6-8 weeks, then decide to morph your plan into something else if need be.
Good job!
