I currenlty weigh a wopping 200lbs- 50 lbs over what is ideal in my opinion. I have been doing a morning fitness boot camp and eating a good diet - which has always been decent - since January but I have gained 5lbs since that time. I am over it ! I want to stop boot camp and do nothing. I have no other medical conditions and do not qualifiy for any weight loss surgery. Please tell what is going on ! I am tired of being the big mom at all the school activities ! Do you have any suggestions for me ? I wish I could go away and focus on this and workout all day like biggest loser !

Dana, don't give up!! It sounds like you're doing great! Instead of focusing just on weight, have you tried getting a measuring tape and recording your measurments? I bet with all that excersise your loosing inches and building muscle! And do you keep a food journal? I've been putting mine on here, so I'm accountable and less likely to cheat, also so at the end of the day I can look back and see how I did. I've had days where I thought I was eating healthy, and was, but my calorie total (or carbs or whatever, for whatever plan your on) was super high for the day. And don't just guess on portion size, get some measuring cups and measure it out. If you havn't done this, you might be surprised at what a real cup of something looks like compared to your percieved amount.
Just dont' give up, you've been working so hard, and I'm sure you dont' want to throw all that work away!! You CAN do it!!

Dana,
I wouldn't worry about those five pounds you've "gained" since January - when you weigh 200 pounds, five pounds could be scale error or water weight. Chances are, you weigh the same as you did in January.
But that doesn't help your situation. You need to see progress on the scale to get your head into this diet. This is almost May and you've been on a program since January with no progress. That's way to long without making an adjustment. You have to set goals in order to stay focused and they need to be near term and long term. And you need to measure your progress (or lack of progress) often and regularly. Here's how I would approach the situation":
1. You need to weigh yourself every morning. Not once a week, not once every four months - every single morning. You need to be accountable to yourself.
2. You need to come up with a diet plan and approach that works for you. Part of that plan should be to have a food diary and write down everything that goes into your mouth and count the calories. Anything more than 1500 calores a day is not going to do it for you in a timely manner. If you can stay around 1500 calores a day along with the boot camp exercise you should have no problem losing 1 to 1.5 pounds a week. That means in nine months you will be down 50 pounds.
3. Part of your plan should be at least 3 -16 oz bottles of water a day. The water does two things, first it keeps you "full" so you are not constantly hungry and second it flushes out salt and other toxins and keeps your system clean so you're not holding water weight.
4. You need to set realistic goals which are short term in nature. For instance, starting from May 1st, say by June 1st you want to weigh 8 pounds less. For month two, go for 7 pounds, etc.
5. Have incentives for yourself. I buy clothing as incentives. I buy something I really like that's a little tight on me and I hang it on my closet door and I try it on from time to time and when I finally fits, I go out and buy another small item and keep working that way. I also get rid of my fat clothes as soon as I'm wearing the next size smaller - that keeps me from relapsing.
6. When I was over 200 pounds, I avoided buying clothing with elastic waist bands or loose fitting clothes because it was too easy to "grow into them."
7. And finally, I go for a walk every evening after dinner - a walk of two miles. It keeps me away from food and it kicks up my metabolism.
Hope you can get things going. The hardest part about dieting is getting started. Once you start seeing results, it's very encouraging and it keeps you motivated and focused. Good luck. Babs
PS About the biggest loser stuff. If you do your boot camp in the morning and a walk in the afternoon you're good. Remember, you are not a super heavy weight - you're a lightweight and therefore you don't need to spend 8 hours a day in the gymnasium. Just stay on a good food plan and stay away from temtation. For me, I had to avoid a lot of social situations when I was dieting agressively. It didn't make sense for me to have relapses while I was expending the time and effort to stay on program.

I understand where you are at. I currently weight 208lbs and my goal is 150. I have never had surgery and do not want to. My highest weight was 270 last May. I had tried everything and at the time I decided that I would give myself one more shot to turn my life around before considering surgery,. I began taking Adipex (perscription diet meds) and working out everyday. I ate many times throughout the day but in very little quantities. I lost down to 206 and pretty much quit. I have been back on the wagon now for two weeks and have lost 11 lbs. The key to success is be true to yourself. You are the only person that knows exactly what you do and some of the things that people eat that they think are "good" are not. If you are exercising and still not losing I think that you need to take a closer look at you diet because there is a problem there or maybe even your thyroid which you can get checked with a simple blood sample. Whatever the problem is do not give up. You life and happiness is far to important to give up on. As far as the Biggest Loser deal, I have many times thought the same thing but the fact of the matter is we all have busy lives and we simply have to make time for our priorities.

Don't stop!!!! I bet you are building muscle and that is a good thing. When I started losing weight 18 lbs ago I gained for the first few weeks and then held steady for a few more weeks. But then suddenly things kicked in gear and the lbs came off and the inches started to melt off.
Hang in there, you'll be glad you did!
PS- I'm thinking of joining a boot camp locally in June once I recoup from a recent surgery.....do you like the daily routing of boot camp??
