Congrats Mary!! You are doing supper! Those stubborn inches are melting away! Yay!!

I was out enjoying the sun again today, but this time I got my butt moving! Stupid grass thinks just cause it rains and then is sunny it needs to grow a bunch, so I had to mow my  front and back yard. And I have one of those old fashioned push mowers...OMG it is so hard to push that stupid thing! My front yard is a hill, so that makes it even more challenging...had to take a lot of breaks, it was HOT out, but I got it all done, then went grocery shopping and resisted all temptation!!

Soo my prouds are doing all that tough yardwork and resisting temptation! I've made it through 7 whole days on plan! Whoopee!!

LOL, thanks Toots for saying that my inches are melting away, but at this rate, it's going to have to get hotter than Hell up in here!

Wow, that IS some 'extreme yardwork'!  Keep that up and you'll be skinny by this Fall.  Talk about melting away.  Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and flush that melting fat right outta ya system.

Hey, I had the same temptation shopping for groceries at the WalMart yesterday.  I think it's just absolutely terrible for them to bake pizza in that damned restaurant...that's just wrong to make us smell alla that and not be able to get away from it.  Plus, they put all of those baked goods right there where you have to go through the damn carbohydrate gauntlet.  Way to resist and stay on plan...it makes you stronger everytime you can make it through!

Mary
congrats on the progress - it is hard in your situation so any is GREAT, right?
I just wanted to say about eating out is salad and/or coffee. Since I work in downtown Seattle, I end up eating lunch out ALOT! I have found that Jimmy John's will make their sandwiches in a lettuce wrap so that works (I love a BLT with sprouts instead of lettuce, all wrapped up in lettuce leaves) And there is meal bar across the street that has salad stuff and hot dishes and I can pick and choose and fill the box with 3/4 of a pound of food acceptable on Atkins. Steamed clams was my choice when my brother from California was in town last month and we went to a fancy place. When I was doing W.W. I had Mother's Day dinner at Applebee's and their W.W. 's menu was not bad at all. I think it is entirely possible to eat out if you have a clear understanding of what works for you. Reaching that understanding is what my journey is about now.

Oh Jan, I totally agree with you that learning to eat out is essential on any diet plan, especially with my DH, he loves fine restaurants and so do I.  I guess what I was saying about my niece is that she loves to eat out, but she's not on a diet so she eats a lot of processed junk food with little nutritional value and it's making her gain weight.  With my family, they don't always pick restaurants that are diet friendly so that you know what the exact ingredients are and there are too many hidden starches and sugars.  That's why I just go with the flow and go to the restaurant for the occassion or the socializing, but I don't eat there, I eat before I go.

But I think Atkins is one of the most restaurant friendly diets out there.  There's always something if you find the right restaurant.  I'm blessed down here that we have a lot of seafood restaurants so that makes it heaven for me.  I love eating out!

How goes your program so far?

I'm doing OK - really understanding it now and the scale is down 9 pounds. It would be better if I did not cheat (I am sure it is cheating) and have a glass of wine or 2 now and then, but I like losing a little slower. At 55, I am hoping that the skin will keep up and I won't need PS after losing 80-90 pounds. At 48-49 I lost 65 on W.W. and had no issues. But as we know things are different now that I'm into the pause.

I had a really great discovery last night. I knew I would miss biscuits and gravy when I go out for breakfast, but I found a substitute for home that will work for me. I love pork verde and tomallio sauce is OK on Atkins so I've been eating it with veggies instead of the rice and beans I used to. That was good, but last night I made a savory MIM and had that with the pork verde and BAM! biscuits and gravy from south of the border! I will be eating this combo often in the future as it is now my go to comfort food!
I'm easy. It's the little things that give me a thrill sometimes!

Girl, when you give up a whole food group, you HAVE to find comfort in the little things!

Your new meal sounds delish.  I've never made a MIM...mostly because I don't have a microwave (I don't like them), but it sounds like everyone over on the Atkins forum is crazee about 'em.  For some reason, taco salad is my comfort food...I could eat that everyday!

Nine pounds? You Go Girl!

Mary My Microwave broke about 9 months ago, I think it was a blessing in disguise!  I certaintly dont like em either and I dont miss it, we use a counter top toaster oven to warm things up, it takes a little longer but no radiation so it's worth it!

OMG, I don't think I could live WITHOUT a microwave!!  When Mary told me she didn't have a microwave, I thought she'd lost her mind.

In my former house, I had a fabulous fully restored fire engine red O'Keefe & Merritt stove that I considered a work of art - a MONUMENT of fabulousness and I didn't want it to get messed up so I never used it.  I basically just cooked with a microwave and a grill for 7 years!
