What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? Max

Drum roll please. Drummer I'm proud that in my mission to lose six pounds before my 30th anniversary in July, I have lost another 1/4 pound which brings my total so far to 3/4 pound.  Not bad for someone who can't lose ANYTHING.  More importantly, I've lost an inch in my waist which has been virtually impossible.  Hey Babs, I'm as happy as a pig in ****! Pig

Biggest Loser is on tonight so I have to get back from the grocery store before it comes on.  Did ya'll see it last week when Max saw his Daddy and brother and started crying like a baby because they looked so good and he was still so big.  I was so upset for him that I cried just as much as he did.  I've been going through this with my niece lately cuz she is big and still gaining and she is so depressed about it.  Somehow, instead of looking at me like I've been where she is now and knows what she's going through, she has a tendency to think of me as someone who can't understand her because I've been successful and she is struggling to get started.  I'm interested in seeing how Max is going to respond when either Ron or Michael goes home.  Hmmmm

Woohoo, congrats on that weight loss AND the inch.  The inch has got to make ya feel good.  Good for you!

I have to admit I understand your niece completely.  Sometimes it is intimidating talking with someone that has been there and succeeded...no offense. :)  Some people are stronger than others, and some people I believe have stronger addictions than others, etc.  Everyone's problems and strengths are so personalized. It's especially hard to admit you need the help and accept it when you have lost the weight, and she hasn't....your not on the same wave length.    Especially if you are a family member, because if she fails...she's not as good as you are, or she will feel guilty she let you down.  I can feel her pain there, she probably feels your some what superior to her.

I think alot has to do also with who was big all of their lives, vs. who was only overweight part of thier life.  Not that it isn't easy both ways, but I do think there is more of a struggle with a person who has always been overweight.  In my eyes when she is depressed and out of it is when she she needs the help the most.  Maybe not even dealing with weight loss at that point, just maintening and working out what is really behind what is wrong.  Sounds like your niece and I have a few things in common. :)

Max crying tore me apart too.  Whenever I know there is going to be a make over or another show like that I always have to tape it and watch it later.  I don't want to bawl in front of everyone.ha  I'm such a cry baby though, I don't think there is an episode yet that I haven't sniffled over.  Elimination is a killer!  I do have to say though that I just want to see Tara beat...just once!ha  I like her, but she's too comfy in all this winning crap.

Thanks Holl, that inch is the highlight of my YEAR!  It's great to know that if I may not lose a lot more weight, I can still lose inches.  Well, at least one inch.  For a while there I was beginning to doubt it was even possible.  I guess those weeks in the yard carrying forty pound bags of soil and mulch paid off for me. Cool

One thing I'd like to say about my niece.  In our family we have tried hard to stress to the kids that nobody is better than they are, just the same as they are not better than anybody else...it's your integrity that counts.  So it seems that the only insecurity my niece has is about her weight.  And you're right about you two having things in common...she is upset about not being able to stick to a diet and she loves to eat out, but that runs in our family!  It took me years to learn that restaurants can be for salads or a cup of coffee.  Same thing for social events cuz for our family that's pig out time! Oh Jeez

Take a peak at my new Grand baby - Veronica Giovanna  born Friday, 17 April 2009 in Redondo Beach California - 8 pounds 14 ounces, 21 inches long.  Sophia barely made it to the hospital - only 15 minutes to spare - no drugs, not even an aspirin.  Glad this baby was right on time - if it had happened a week later, I'd be at work 7000 miles away in Venice, Italy.

I have an iPhone but the data plan is really limited for overseas.  I have to pay a little over $1 per mB with a limit of 20 per month.  So I have to be selective with my useage.  And since I travel from city to city, I have to down load weather and GPS maps so it's hard to say right now.  I'm phoning AT&T in the next day or two to add my foreign data plan so if they have a new cheaper arrangement (fat chance, but stranger things have happened) it might work out.  Cyber cafes were the old standby but they're over $1.50 per minute now and that's pretty steep.  Ya know, it's not the actual cost that is the problem - it's the rip-off feeling you get - like being cheated or gouged - you just don't want to give into these jerks.
