What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? We'll See?

Hey ya'll, I hope this Tuesday...Biggest Loser Day   Step Aerobics , finds you all shakin' your groove thangs to get those muscles in motion and that fat burnin' like lard in a skillet.

I have made a major decision about my commitment to lose this last six pounds.  To most, I know that doesn't sound like much, but under MY cir****tances, it's monumental.  Between the PCOS and the menopause constantly trying to put weight on me, I have to row this boat twice as hard just to stay where I am.  I've lost 129 pounds, and my plastic surgeon cut off 25, so I would just LOVE to be able to say that I've lost 135 pounds of my own weight loss.  Problem is, to get this done, I will have to go back to Atkins Induction, instead of cruising on Atkins Maintenance.  My weight loss journey has been a long one, and I think I got tired of the struggle for a while, but now that I wasn't DESPERATE anymore, I wasn't willing to do what it would take to get this over with.  But I've always been one to finish what I started, so this six pounds is doomed!

My 30th anniversary is July 26th, and I have decided to make this my gift to masself! Cool Say a prayer for me that I can pull this off...I'm going to need all of the support I can get.

Here's to all of us finishing this damn thing, Cheers

Mary,
I thought you went back on Induction after the last PS?
Surgery and stress caused me to gain back all the 65 pounds I lost on WW 7 years ago, so I know how that is. I don't PCOS but the surgery put me into menopause and it has not been easy to go back on the program.
Now I know what it's all about from personal experience (a week's worth), and you are so right when you say Atkins is not the easiest way to lose weight! I hope that you get the results you are looking for.
My first week started a little rugged, but I'm getting the hang of it. WW was definately easier for me but I think this will be healthier in the end. Already prepackaged food doesn't even smell good to me. 20 net carbs is not a lot and I sometimes get through lunch from the salad bar and find I only have 3 left for veggies for dinner. I guess I like the higher carb ones, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet peppers. I imagine the learning curve is going to last awhile. I am a little spacey now and realized as I was about to walk out the door for work this morning I had not made my MIM. So I bought a Breakfast Jack on the way and tossed the bun and it worked out, but I know I will miss the fiber later! Guess it's MIM for dinner for me
:) - But the encouraging thing is the scale appears to be going down and I hope to have lost the weigh I gained during the kitchen remodel this last 6 months. At the rate tha's going I will have lost the weight before the counters are done.
If I was a praying type of girl I would put you on my list but I know you can do it, the record shows you know how. I hope I can do as well.

Well, I was on Induction after the last surgery, but that was two months ago and I lost the eight pounds that I gained after surgery.  For some reason, I can always lose the weight I've already lost, I just can't get past a certain number.  It's like my body has settled on 129 pounds lost and it ain't goin' down no mo!  Damnit.

You're right, twenty carbs ain't much, but at least that is only for two weeks and then you start adding more.  That's why I don't exactly relish going back on Induction, but what's a girl gonna do?  Two weeks out of ones life is a mere drop in the bucket compared to all of the years we've spent miserable being obese, no?  So, I suppose it's back to, 'what doesn't kill us makes us stronger'...I say *****ier!

LOL, I always say Atkins ain't for sissies, but it sounds like you are getting the hang of it pretty well.  That would be so way cool if you beat your counter tops!

We'll get there eventually, we just have to keep rowing, even if the waters are just a little rougher for the both of us.  I think realizing that makes us a heartier lot!

OH I am definitely a hearty gal - some people here at work have a hard time believing my Friend and I demoed 14' of 75 YO brick chimney for this project! WE were breathing black soot for 3 weekends in a row. I don't know why, I don't look like a delicate flower!
Is your mainentce net carbs really low - that why you can't kick the last 6 pounds?
Just wondering what's ahead.

Yep, youze the hearty type!  I've done that cleaning brick thing before for my sister's house and it wasn't exactly my idea of a good time, but it's definitely a great workout.  That's how I tend to look at things nowadays.  Not that it is hard work, but how much muscle you use to get r done!

You asked if my Maintenance net carbs were really low.  Mine usually stay in the 65 to 70 range, which is considered high, but I don't gain at that range.  You definitely don't lose on Maintenance.  But I have insulin resistance, so in order to get past that, I have to be on Induction to lose.  20 net carbs is like going from driving a Cadillac to driving a Volkswagon!  But it's only for a few months, right?  All it takes is determination and *****ing...I got that down pat!

I know you can loose those last pesky 6 pounds! You can do it!  You've got enough willpower and determination for an army of dieters!

My proud for today is I'm back on plan. I'm going to stop calling it Atkins, and just call it a low-carb diet. I'm following Atkins as close as I can, but since I will modifiy it as needed, I won't offend or lead anyone astray.   I've been lurking around and not really posting because I've been a bad bad girl. I've been off my plan for a few weeks again, and don't wanna step on the scale. My therapist has suggested that I weigh once a day at home, and keep a graph of my weight fluctuations. Whether I'm on plan or not. Avoidance is a way I deal with anxiety and depression, and not a good one. This will help keep me accountable. I've made it through the morning and through today's classes on track, and I know I will be ok tonight. I bought a pair of jeans (on sale for 5.98!!) that are 2-3 sizes too small, and I want to wear them darn it!!!  LOL If new smaller clothes is what it takes for me to stay motivated, so be it!!

Heather,  I'm glad you're back!  I'm so glad you bought those jeans!  That's exactly how I got started.  I love incentive clothing - it really works for me and continues to work for me to this day.  I just bought a pair of Guess jeans one size too small.  It's my plan to get really focused this summer and get into those by the fall.  Good luck and stay on plan - I know you can do it!

Thanks Babs! I read that you get incentive clothes, thats what gave me the idea. I was struggling to find some short term reward/motivation that I could actually 'touch'.

I really believe in the short term reward/motivation stuff - otherwise dieting becomes overwhelming at times.  I set reasonable short term goals and then after they are met, move on to the next set of short term achievable goals.  You know what works with your lifestyle.

Hey Toots, glad to see you are back.  You need to stay here whether you are a good girl or not cuz sumpn' about talking diets helps you stay on your diet.  Sometimes, when we are off plan, it's just too easy to tell ourselves it's only temporary and it won't do that much harm.  But that's only if we aren't confronting a scale or our OH family!  Hmph, try telling Neecee it's only temporary. Nervous

Oh NO...your therapist threw the 'A' word atcha!  Avoidance is such an uglee little word.  Maybe we should just call it the "Head in the Sand Approach".  Ostrich   I learned a long time ago that dealing with an issue as soon as it happens saves you a lot of grief in the long run.  It is what it is and just because you aren't paying attention to it, doesn't mean it's not happening.  Sounds like she gave you a great plan though...work it Sister!

Hey, maybe if you want to go on just regular low carb, you might want to give South Beach a try.  Modifying Atkins will bring you to a stall sooner than you think.  You won't lose as fast on South Beach, but it's easier and at this point in your busy life, that means a lot.  Just sayin'.

Well thanks for saying that I have enough willpower and determination for an army of dieters, but if that were true, I'd look like one of the Olsen twins by now.  And if I was able to give my determination to others, you'd be in those new jeans by next week!  Maybe I'll start a diet boot camp. Army Woman  Ya wanna go through it?
