Hey gals, hope everyone's having a great Saturday!

I joined Weigh****chers today. I have done it before, but not in a while, and I didn't do it 'seriously' all of the time.

A little background on me....I was seriously considering WLS and started the process in October. 5 months later, I am eating better, exercising, feeling great and I am down 27 pounds total!

So I've decided to put off the surgery for now and see how well I can do. I am doing WW mostly b/c I need something to help me be accountable. The last 5 months it was the dietician in the surgeon's office. Weighing in, publicly, weekly will help me stay on track, I think.

Anyone else out there on WW? If so, how do you like the "momentum" plan? It seems sensible and focused on the good proteins, grains etc like I am already doing w/the dietician's plan.

Hi there! I am planning to get back to WW, end of this month probably.

I think i will weigh in monthly unless I really start not paying attention. The weekly stuff can really bum me out! I get so emotional about the scale. When I do well and it does not pay back, man that wrecks my day!

i know as I type this that I need to get past that...i mean what is the point here?  to lose weight??? yes! Just being honest and this weekly weigh in was one reason i quit last time.

This will be my 4th time back at it. Overall, I have enjoyed WW and several times lost weight very well til I got whiny.

Congrats on joining WW and your loss so far!  I've been on WW since Jan. 2006. I've lost all my weight (210 lbs.) on Weigh****chers. I love the freedom the program gives you so you don't feel deprived when you really want a "treat." But it has also taught me a lot about eating healthy. I eat 95% of my food from the "filling foods" list (old Core) and I definitely believe it makes a difference!

Good luck to you!!

Dear Wmcconk:

Thank-you for sharing your web site. I enjoyed viewing it. It is hard finding someone, who was as heavy as I was. You have now surpassed me in weight loss. I have lost about 124 lbs (just put on about 5lbs, my fault) I have wanted to know what I could look like, after being so heavy. I am somewhat older than you, I hope that doesn't make that much of a difference. I have been heavy all my life. I do not know what I will look like, when I get there. Thanks for the look into what I mite look like.

I am interested into knowing how  you get certified as an Zumba instructor? Who certifies you? Do they have books on Zumba steps? Interested to learn more. I Love to Dance. (this one you do not need to have a partner.)

Keep up the good job, hope to see more of your progress.

Twilight,

If you are interested, the weigh****cher's message boards have a "200+ lb. to lose" board and there are many people there who have lost a significant amount of weight. There are also others who are just starting out. It's a great place to get inspiration and motivation from people who are on the same program as you.  I go there everyday.

As far as Zumba. Have you ever taken a Zumba class? I highly reccommend it, especially if dancing is something you love. You can see if there are any Zumba classes in your area by going to Zumba.com. They also have the instructor training schedule there as well. To get certified you have to attend a one-day or two-day workshop. It's a lot of fun, a lot of work, and you make really great friends there as well. I've been taking Zumba for 18 months and last fall my instructor and good friend convinced me to get certified. I'm so glad I did. Right now I just have one class a week and I teach it to the kids at school before school, and I sub for her, but that's enough for now. I'm a kindergarten teacher and have enough on my plate as it is!

If you are looking for places to see the basic Zumba steps, Zumba does have a 4-disk DVD set that breaks the dances down for you. You can also see some video clips of actual classes on Youtube.

Good luck and congrats on your loss so far!

~Wendy
