Insulin Resistance and Obesity
When I get my outline done for the podcast, I'll post it on my profile as a blog. That way I won't "half" explain something that's complicated. Sounds nasty, though, right? Ew.
In other news, as always, daughter is back to her pre-preg clothes and size (thank you Isa foods) and people are shocked that she's a mommy of a 9-weeker. He's a little cutie patootie, too.

Great article, Mary! I don't think I'm insulin resistan****ching calories is really the key for me.
I read an article the other day that stated that if you carry your weight in your lower half and have a small waist, you're most likely NOT insulin resistant; if you carry your weight in your torso, you're more likely to be insulin resistant. I had a fat a$$ with a small waist when I was fat. And now I have a small waist and NO a$$!

Well SugarButt, at least you aren't insulin resistant!!! It's us apples that suffer. At least the government is giving me a break by saying my waistline has to be below 35 inches. That crazy Dr. Oz says it has to be 32 inches. I'd have to eat dirt in the desert for six months!
Just give it a few more weeks and then you'll get your Happy A$$ back!

OMG, I think I just saw smoke coming out of my brain just contemplating such a question!!! So if you were both, you'd have a huge shelf butt, a huge belly, big ol' honkin' thunder thighs and massive boobalage. I'd be scared to ever meet that person!
Let me get back to you on this one, I'm going to have to think on this pearapple shape for a while.

There is a great book out there called "The Schwarzbein Principle" which was written by an endocrinologist who treats diabetic patients. In the first chapters, she explains the "science" of endocrinology, and how the low-fat, high-grain diet that we have all been taught to follow is ending up killing us much earlier than before!
Personally, our family has been following a gluten-free "diet" for the past few months, since our youngest daughter's diagnosis of Celiac Disease, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Check out my personal profile for the "complete" story, and links to websites about Celiac Disease / Gluten Sensitivity. The fact of the matter is that between 30-70% of people in this country are gluten sensitive (and don't know it), and most of their health issues can be resolved simply by eliminating gluten from their diet.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions - I am always happy to pass along any information that may be helpful to other folks!
