OT - What to do with old clothes?
I know most of us have had to deal with this at one point of their lives. I have LOTS of clothes that are 2 to 3 sizes too big. Most of it is very nice clothing! I can NOT bring myself to donate it or throw it out since most items I feel can be used in some sort of way. I'm not really a creative person, so I don't have the imagination when it comes to repurposing clothing. Most of my old jeans and pants that are too big I might donate or use as painting clothes. But I have boxes and boxes of beautiful tops and blouses that I really love.
TONS of shirts like this:

I have TONS of tops like this in short and long leave, too many colors to count, some button down some not:

Is there anything I do with these tops other than save them as maternity clothes?? HELP! Thanks
My opinion: get rid of them - now!!!! I have a strong feeling that most of us somehow harbor this feeling we will grow back there again - if you are or WERE a yo-yo-ho, you definitely must deal with that falling backwards thing. It's too damn bad if we do get back up to those sizes...part of the consequence of doing so will be just that - to have to do that walk of shame to buy bigger sizes. Not me..I am DONE. Done.
Ask around at work or even call the Women's shelter in your area - many gals need professional clothes to wear as they rebuild thier lives.
If nothing else, sell them in the paper. I gave away my very nice, very expensive clothes to a good friend. i let her know that these were nice things and if she did not wear them, give them back and i would find someone else. She loves them! I like to see her wear them, too.
Get rid ot that stuff!!!!!

I agree with Neecee - get rid of 'em so you're not tempted to grow back into 'em. It's REALLY hard for me to get rid of my shoes that are too big but I'm in the process of doing that so if there are any fellow stiletto 'hos who wear a a size 10, lemme know.
Another idea I had today was to use some of those thin cotton tops as cover ups at the lake/beach this summer. Maybe for the tops that are not button up I can have altered to be used as a wrap type top... kinda like how'd you wear a short robe.
All my old pants will mostly be donated. Those tend to wear out quicker.
Edit: The reason I bring this up is because I have a big move ahead of me this summer. Currently we are temporarily living in AZ. DH is graduating from school in April. Before he graduates, this March, we find out where he will be placed for post gradation training. We have a good idea we are moving about 3 hours from home. BTW I'm happy about that! BUT but but I have two storage units full of our stuff to go through when I get back home in April. Some of this stuff has been in storage since 2005. I'm dreading going through those old 'fat' clothes. It's just depressing to me. Realizing how big I was and how helpless I felt back then. How the heck is it that a old pair of jeans can bring back SO MANY freakin feelings????
ok, end of rant.
