Glad I Found You Guys!!!
I have been visiting this website since 01/06 and I finally found you guys. This is the place I need to be. All my friends have had WLS or hoping to have WLS. They are in a different place then me. I've been researching and reading about WLS but I'm still on the fence. I really can't do anything about for the next 3-4 month so I'm trying a new eating and exercise plan. I lost 22 lbs in a 1 1/2 months but now the cravings and deprivation has started to set in. My evil husband hasn't made it easy!!! This has been a bad week for me.THIS SO HARD!!! Any insight on dealing with sabotage from spouses or upping will power is greatly needed. Thanking you in advance.

Hi Cynthia - Losing weight is a very difficult task. We're always here to help. I'd suggest you sit your husband down and talk to him about your goals and how he's not helping you achieve them by making things more difficult.
Keep your goals in your mind at all times. That should help keep you motivated.
Best of luck!!

Hi Cynthia! Welcome...
As for the hubby thing - we call them Dear Husbands, or DH. Yours would be EH - Evil Husband! ha ha.
For me, it is about making the announcement to him, followed by gentle (and persistent LOL) reminders that _____is how I am going to eat. HE is at free will to eat whatever he wants - and mine does!!!!
In the begining I tried hard to talk to him about how we could modify meals so that we could eat together. And he would try to be on board...again, over time it is up to me to be the one responsible for trying to keep my own goals in focus and to the front of not ony my mind but his!
My DH has been skinny all his life and now at age 62, newly retired, he is struggling with his weight too (there IS a God!). At this moment, he is in the planning stages of his own weight loss...not exactly making sudden moves to take off the weight he needs to lose.
All I can do is to try and bring it up in the context that we both need to get on a plan.
He is part of the reason that I choose to do a long slow weight loss plan - we both do love to cook and eat good foods, so a moderate plan that includes pretty much all foods within portion control is what we both need.
He takes meds that interact with a high protein plan, so Atkins is out for him. I lose better eating way less grains, so we will struggle to find this middle ground. I have gotten very good abou****ching my grain portion sizes, so this is helps me.
Hang out! Together we can do this.

welcome! glad you found us too! I was convinced I was going to have WLS, I spent all of my time on the VSG board, but now I am convinced that I will not need the surgery, I love this board! you will get the encouragement and advice you need to stay the course here! Congrats on your 22 lb lose! that is wonderful! welcome aboard!
Hi Cynthia,
I can really relate to the dh issue. Mine just sulks and gets all whiny if I don't give in to eating bad. Needless to say it works most the time since after all I'm a people pleaser. It is hard, that is for sure. Congrats on your weight loss, that is a great amount for such a short period of time!
Welcome to the non op board!
