How the Hell Are You?

How's everybody doing this lovely Wednesday afternoon?  I've missed you all like crazy! Valentine Kiss My healing is going very well and after I see my doc tomorrow, I should be cleared for walking.  Well, regular walking, not power walking.  I won't be cleared for that for another two weeks.  But it's a start and hopefully it will keep everything from turning to jello. Cool

I gained eight pounds after surgery, but I attribute that to the lipo fluids they inject.  Now I'm down to three pounds to lose, but that should be gone shortly.  My DH thinks that surgery is a great reason to go off plan and pig out.  Me, not so much.  So although I haven't been on plan, I haven't been sitting here eating cake all day either.  For that, I am proud!

So what have you guys been up to and how goes your journeys?

Hey stranger, glad to see ya back.

Not much going on here.  I've had a house of sickness this past week and in the middle of the night it finally caught up to me, after I've been literally fighting with it...it finally won.  So I've been laying back doing much of nothing but house stuff and taking care of sick people.

Ive also as of this morning lost six pounds of my ten yo yo pounds...once again. :) hehe  I told my husband last night I wonder how many times I have actually lost this dang ten pounds.lol  I'm assuming the number is quite high.    I've been laying off so many carbs and seeing how that works for me...instead of actually doing a plan or counting calories.  Ya know I hate being told what to do. :)  So far so good!  I've been a little research hound this past week on the stuff!

Allright Holly!  I say six pounds is six pounds no matter how many times you've lost and gained it...it's better than my old mode of lose thirty...gain fifty! Wakka Wakka   So you say that you've been all over this lower carb thing like a dawg on a bone, huh?  Good for you, let us know what you've found out...it's never to late to teach an old dawg new tricks and we all need to keep an open mind.  Last night on Biggest Loser, Bob was talking about the need for COMPLEX carbs to fuel a workout.  My favorite complex carb is almonds.  Yum.

I hope you and your sickos are better soon, Bouquet

I'm sure I'll not learn anything  you don't already know yourself....Miss Atkins Queen.  I just know I hate plans, and really hate the calorie counting.  I love researching, and low carb is always one I've been very scared of.  I always like to keep an open mind, so I'm REALLY trying to understand it all with the low carb and high fat intake.  I have read numerous things before, but it usually goes straight in and out immediatley.  It's like I have been drilled that low fat intake, and lots of fruits and veggies is the only way to go...period.

All I know is that I have been eating a little lower intake of carbs and a little higher intake of fat (althoug it's making me cringe), I am actually feeling pretty good.   I seem to be breathing better, although it's really early to tell too though. Thought I might as well experiment a little...what can it hurt...and it seems like I'm dropping the pounds a little faster..even my good ol ten pound friend.  :)

I'm trying!

Well my friend, once again you just might be overthinkin' a subject.  Here's the thing about researching the web.  There are people out there trying to sell you their product, so they put out misinformation on other people's plans to make them look bad, so you'll buy what they are hawking.  Then too, people put out information based on their own biases.  In the nineties, low fat was the rage.  This way of eating was debunked, but there are still people out there who are low fat fanatics.  Opinions are constantly changing and the science of obesity is constantly evolving.  Like calories in/calories out.  That may work for some, but it doesn't work for those with metobolic disorders.  And now that they can read the human genome, expect the science of obesity to go into overdrive when they unlock that fat gene!  What about what you do know?  Bad things...sugar, processed carbs like white bread and white rice, anything processed to whithin an inch of no nutritional value whatsover,  soft drinks, drinks with calories in them, and we all know an evil goody when we see it...it sets off the guilt-o-meter!  Good things, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, unprocessed nuts, left the way God made them, not overly processed breads made from stone ground wheat, close to the way God made it, healthy fats like olive oil and avocadoes, well, you get my drift.  What I'm trying to say is that this is the right way to eat for nutrition and health and weight loss will follow.  This isn't someone telling you how to eat, this is the sound nutritional way to be.  You know all of this in your heart already...that's how you lost that six pounds Sweetie!

Oh I know, I  haven't been looking at plans, just research on how certain foods effect  you and how it's changed (by some doctors or studies).  Because after all....what one food you would consider good wholesome food, might not be considered a wholesome food to another.  Just reading pros and cons..

DH and I were talking about this today.  When everything was so low fat, avocados were bad for you.  Now they are heart healthy. I Dunno Geesh, what's a person to think about what they thought they knew?

I have been really busy, which has made it a little bit hard to put "good" thought into my nutrition, we've had a lot of kids school activities to attend and get the kids to on time and seems like I've spent the last two days out and about  I need to get back on track with some great nutritional meals planned, I havent done too bad but I need to plan what im eating and not just wing it, thats trouble waiting to happen!

Uh oh, winging it is can be disastrous.  Especially chicken winging it! Fat Woman 3 Do not let this happen to YOU.

What is it about messing with younguns that will get us off our guard everytime?  Good luck getting back to sanity.
