One of the centers I emailed said that Medicare won't cover the DS... but I thought I read on one of  the forums that Medicare did cover the DS... does anyone know?

Thank you!

Your answer would probably be better answered on the DS Forum.  Good luck.

I'm in Oregon, and on OHP (not sure if thats medicare or mdicaid...but I think they have similar guidlines) I have been told that they only cover for open RNY's, and only for people who have high enough bmi's AND diabietes. I know becuase, the only thing standing in my way of getting the surgery is my not having diabieties (despite all my other co-morbidities).

Sorry to be late to this thread.

Medicare covers the DS, and has for three years: http://www.cms.hhs.gov/mcd/viewdecisionmemo.asp?from2=viewde cisionmemo.asp&id=160&
