What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? Atkins Info
Today I am proud that I have gotten in my extra aerobic workout to help me get in shape for my revision and lipo which has been moved to next Friday. Doc likes having all of that blood flow to the tissue and extra protein intake before surgery, and since I'm such a good li'l patient, I've been cycling at a lower intensity but faster. Yep, that'll definitely get your heart rate up!
Jan, this is the link to which book is best to buy for Atkins. It is full of a lot of other great info, also.

Now part of that was a staph infection both times - the second time was a resistant strain and nearly kilt me. I now realize in reflection several things about why that may have happened (things I could have controlled if I had known, i mean):
my diet was horrible. very heavy in white carbs, trans fats laden, etc.
I smoked. a lot. not just cigarettes (pre-preggo - not during!)
I did not formally exercise, tho in those days we did not own a car and i did walk to the store/park most days.
my life was overall, very depressing.
But hey i lived!
My proud yesterday? hmmmm I am so inclined to focus right to the ****ty things I did: no veggies, really all day long. I ate pretzels and salsa and a hi fiber bar right after work rather than finding a higher protein/veggie something. I also ate a mini-loaf of fruit cake late at night.
Cannot classify any of this as a binge, but at this stuck on stop place in my weight loss life, this kind of petty **** does keep me from losing weight.
But I did get up and wog for almost an hour - my pace is really fast lately, i find myself more in jog mode than walk. Also, no booze last night!
DH and I are having a party for his retirement! I have not begun to whine about him underfoot all day every day just yet! I'll be back for that.
Tonight we celebrate a man who has worked very hard all his life (and did it with so much love of service to his fellow man), a Vietnam veteran, who raised 2 boys all on his own, and takes care of me like I am a Hindu Princess.
A man who fully expected to work til he was 70 years old, but for Parkinsons Disease to step in uninvited and change that. he is also a man who does not whine - ever - about his plight. I would be such a goddam baby and i admire him so much.

Enjoy your celebration tonight.

Original goal: lose 53 lbs. New goal: lose 68-78 lbs total.
Wow Princess, it sounds like ya'll are going to be partying down at the crib. Give that great guy of yours a kiss from all of us and tell him we said, .
You know, they say retirement is twice the husband for half the money. You're going to love having him home all of the time. We saved a lot of years for mine to retire early and it was so worth it. And I love the fact that I cook and he cleans the kitchen...well, just the pots and dishes. He's not allowed to touch anything else...seriously, the man has no skills!
Thanks for the well wishes. Yanno, smoking before surgery is a huge nono. It breaks down the tissue, hinders healing from lack of oxygen to the cells, and weakens it to infection. But hey, it wasn't your fault...they didn't push all of that back in the day.
Hey, just exactly how does one get salsa on a pretzel?
Have a great party!
