I was just reading through the Name Your Poison post and let me tell you something...we have flat CONSUMED some junk in our day!

So, after reading that food porn post, as Kimmie called it, Brows I thought maybe we needed to balance that out with something 'positive'.

So now the question becomes, name your most winning strategies for weight loss success.

Mine was learning how to cook for my plan so I wouldn't get bored with the same old thing over and over.  I got so bored with chicken when I was on low fat I thought I was going to start cackling.  My other best strategy was to always be prepared.  Running out of acceptable groceries is a sure fire way to eat the wrong thing.  Mainly cuz you ain't got the right thing!  And taking something to eat was absolutely key for eating at functions that weren't diet friendly.

That was mine...what'cha got?

My positive would be my love for whole foods.  This has been slowly happening over the years, but really didn't start happening until this past year.   My body is just now starting to let me know my breathing improves when I eat better (I take an inhaler daily).   I love my new found crave for green smoothies, and I actually crave whole grains.  My husband laughs at me, saying I"m the only one in the world that smells and gets high off of whole grains.  I love it!  I also love eating and trying new berries.   I could live without the flour, etc.  It's just those damn fast food places and ice cream that gets me every weekend!

This past year I've really opened up my eyes to the health benefits of foods.  Now if I can just incorporate that into losing weight!  Somehow it doesn't work all the time for me.  Guess it's those darn weekends. :)

Holly?  Iz That YOU????? wow, never thought I'd read a post like this! You have grown a lot. You will have those weekends down in no time at all.

It is the last frontier.

Hmmmm...what is it about the weekends that 'duz you in'?

The weekdays are structured and more planned.  People who are apt to tempt you to eat the wrong things are in the house with you for two days in a row.  I'd try making sure that you have PLENTY of healthy options just for you and anyone else who might want to join you in some sanity.  Just sumpn' to think about.

Personally I eat well when I have more time on my hands, but as soon as I get busy I eat crap.  Fast food becomes my best friend beacuse I don't have time to cook.  So what works best for me is making a trip down to henry's or cooking meals ahead of time using what's in my cupboards.  Then I can have my meals prepackaged and sized in my tupperware. That along w/ fiber is my saving grace.

But I have been yo yoing 15 lbs for the last couple of years but it works, now I just have to work on will power.

I had a friend's son stay with me for a week this summer. He's 14. His family eats fast food daily, and sometimes 3 times a day. My husband and I own (or does it own us?) a used and new appliance store. Life is crazed. What I explained to my young visitor was that "fast food" is food I can prepare "fast". I realize that's improper grammar. I take 20 min to prepare most of our healthy meals whi*****lude fish, chicken, whole grains, fresh veggies, and healthy oils. I got this awesome thing called a 'Turbo Cooker' Convection Oven - Turbo 3000 13L Cooker-Convection Oven - Turbo 3000 13L Cooker-and with it I can work magic that's healthy. The $56 was a worthwhile investment. I only wish I could find a wholesale source so we could retail this in our store. We literally use it at least once a day. It's a convection oven that's no bigger than a crock pot. That's FAST FOOD baby!

Uh oh, yo yo dieting is the best way to ruin a perfectly good metabolism.  If you don't mind me asking, what kind of a plan are you on...I mean, other than making a trip down to Henry's.

I was never really a yo yo dieter, I would just lose weight and gain weight w/o trying. I think it was usually related to my schedule.  Right now I'm just trying to make exercise a habit, I want to exercise on my eleptical every day but I'm not obsessive about the amount of time I spend on it.  As for food I just want to make sure I am eating a couple hundred calories below what  I burn.  Obviously I want to trim the fat from my diet and slowly change my habits so I don't eat as much junk food but I am not on a specific plan.  I want to make changes that I can live with forever, I don't want to be on a diet for X months, I want to change my lifestyle.  It's sad when you see people lose 20-hundreds of lbs on a certain plan only to watch them gain it all back once they get to the point where they have to maintain their weight.  Anyway I made a short story long and complicated so hopefully I answered your question properly.  (In case you haven't noticed I'm not very eloquent ).
