Coconut oil solidifies at a certain temperature.  I find in my house at about 68* in the house the oil is liquid.

Yes, I understand that as coconut oil is our oil of choice. But, again, how do you get it not to solidify in a drink? The drink would certainly be below 68 unless, obviously, a hot drink. I have often had coconut oil in tea.

I do not put it in a drink - unless warm like coffee or hot cocoalike stuff. I usually eat it off the spoon or cook eggs in it.

That makes sense! I've baked with it, and sometimes that turns out a bit odd as well. Thanks for the clarification. One of my favorite uses for coconut oil is to toss slightly steamed green beans in it, add Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Salute, and sliced raw almonds.

I was curious about the coconut oil...my mom told me that it's supposed to be good for you and help with weight loss...not sure if that is true or just more diet bs, but I tried it, and found that the taste totally threw me off. I couldn't choke it down to eat it and cooking with it gave the food a bad taste...cant remember what brand it was that I tried, but is there a certain brand that's better than others, or is it just one of those things that you either like or you don't?

I don't subscribe to "diet bs", but do my research before recommending anything to precious "losers" who count on me!

We get extra virgin, cold processed coconut oil, and it's fairly pricey (like a lot of things that are good).

My granddaughter runs from the room when I cook with it because she hates the smell. Her family's eating habits are highly unhealthy, and she dislikes most of what I prepare. At first I was put off by the taste it gave eggs, for instance, but now I absolutely love it. I do believe it's not something everyone would love immediately, but the taste can be acquired if you find the benefits are worth it.
