What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? 1/4 Inch!
Yep, junk dopes you up! I'd say that Dr. Atkins had a pretty good handle on that fact and he was ostrocized for even thinking it. A lot of nutritionist have gotten on the bandwagon now that he's not around to get any credit for it, but he at least saw some vindication.
Twelve days junk free? Sorry that you had to go through those withdrawals, but it's the price we pay for getting right with our bodies. Hang tough!

I know what you mean, Kimmie. If I would have called someone Chunky, my Mama would have hit me upside the head!
But what is your name, cuz I like positive reinforcement and Chunky isn't going to be you forever. I like Beautiful Loser's name cuz we get to call her beautiful...now that's positive reinforcement!

Hey Holl, tell your DH that Mary said he needs to go get his own poison and leave you out of it. If he wants to lie to himself and tell himself that he is doing it for you, tell him that that is a little game that you can't afford to play. The ante is just way too high!
Girl, put this icky heavy feeling in your brain for future reference. I can't tell you how many times I have not eaten something like a funnel cake no matter how good it looked or smelled cuz I went to the part of my brain where those memories of bloat and misery and shame were stored. Not having to go through that made not eating it a no brainer.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...your past 'eat nuttin' diet was not reality and yes you were beyond deprived. But depriving yourself when you get to actually eat is a whole nother ballgame! So you don't get a sodium enriched burger on a round death roll, replace it with a healthy alternative that you cooked yourself and know exactly which ingredients are within. That's control, Baby!

Holly:
I don't know anything about fast food "addiction" 'cuz it was never my thing but I DO know about ice cream "addiction". As I wrote in another post, the crux of the issue is WHY you want to eat the ice cream.
It's not because it's so yummy 'cuz there's lots of other things in your house that are yummy....not because it's there 'cuz there are other things in your house to eat...not because you physically need to experience the taste 'cuz you've tasted it a bunch of times (and the same brand and flavor ALWAYS taste the same as the last time). It's due to "feeding" a feeling, IMO.
You know that I eat ice cream not often and not very much at one time and the reason I can have it in my house without overeating it is because have replaced that "feeding a feeling" behavior with different behavior. I still get upset, angry, excited, happy, etc. Those feelings aren't gone but I allow myself to really feel them rather than stuff them with food (99% of the time 'cuz I'm not perfect ;-). Dealing with the reasons WHY I overate and binged has changed my behavior towards food.
I do agree with Mary that there are some chemical reactions that cause an unhealthy desire for some foods but without working on the head stuff, but just substituting other healthy foods for those unhealthy foods you desire doesn't work long-term, alone.
You're very aware of what you're doing and how you feel about it which is the first step. You can and will be successful!!

You'll be proud to know that I got my extra thirty minutes in on the recumbent cycle after we finished yappin last night. It felt good!
Ya know, this may sound weird, and back in the day when I used to be miserable on Atkins, I never thought I would say this...but when I am doing Atkins to the letter, I'm getting in my workouts, vitamins and water...I feel "mawvelous". Sumpn' about getting all of the trash outta my system and moving my toosh that just makes me feel like I can do anything.
But I truly was addicted to sugar and flour products, and it took me a long time to get to this point. So don't feel sorry for me, I finally found what works for ME. Just like what you do would not work for me, but I respect the hell outta you that you can do it!!!
