How much protein should a person have daily ...
My certified health coach advises .5 gm of protein per pound of body weight for a generally inactive person. It would go up as the activity and so forth increase. Oh - and he always clarifies that you will be aiming for the goal weight for your calculation rather than current weight if you have significant weight to release. In other words, I would consume 70 grams of protein daily (minimum) if shooting for a 140lb goal. Be sure, though, that the protein is digestible. I advise people to get a good digestive enzyme if they start to incorporate more animal proteins into their diet. Quite often we don't utilize the nutrition we are consuming due to a lack of digestion. In speaking with several nutrition experts, I have found the consensus is pretty much the same.
