I read this in Parade magazine last week and it really resonated with me so I wanted to share it with you guys.

Get Your Head in the Game (Author:  Joy Bauer)

One of the "secrets" to losing weight is to commit completely.  All of the successful dieters I've worked with say that they had to know in their hearts that they would succeed this time.
Success starts in the head, moves to the heart, and lastly involves the mouth and stomach. (brilliant statement, IMO)

It's a brilliant statement in my opinion, too. High Five

"Get your head in the game", is one of my favorite things that I tell myself.  That and, "Stay focused, Mary".   The Thinker

Yeah, yeah, I know, I talk to masself...but it works.  And I do it internally so know one thinks I'm nutz!

I completely agree with the article, too. But I've watched too much disney channel with my 5 yr old (who LOVES High School Musical) to be able to do anything with the phrase "Get your head in the game" All I see is the boys in the movie dancing and singing with basketballs.

Heather:
I don't have children so I had no idea that phrase would remind someone of High School Musical.  Hhmmmm, they must be on to something?!
I never use the phrase either but I do try to live by the concept as much as possible but it doesn't always come easy.

OMG, that is completely true. I know for me this time EVERYTHING feel different, my mind set, my heart, MY HEAD it all feels like I WILL DO THIS!! When I feel that URGE to eat something bad I make myself think of how far I have come and what there is to come, like being able to wear a bathing suit at the beach, running and playing with my kids this summer without getting winded 30seconds into it. Once I convince my mind to not eat the bad item, I go and get an ATKINS chocolate shake and that always does the trick for my naughty cravings. Thanks for sharing that Kim.

Kim, thank you so much for this thread. Earlier this evening my inner carb junkie started howling after a food ad on TV. I did what my doc advised: grabbed a lo carb snack and planned for a 20 minute activity that would ride out the craving and inspire me: I came here. That post did resonate with me and punched junkie right in the loud mouth.
