Anyone catch Oprah today

she's back up to 200 pounds and she finally talked about it. She was saying how you can't succeed if you don't love yourself and love your body. She said you've got to love yourself enough to get up and do that cardio or walk that mile or eat right. It really opened my eyes up and I'm like oh goodness this is my lifestyle! Her trainer Bob then said something that really hit me...he said you can't wake up one day thinking "I've done it, I've beat this" because the fact is when you lose all your weight you'll still have to eat healthy. All and all I thought the show had some awesome pointers. Her "best life ever" runs all week

I hardly ever watch Oprah, so I didn't see this show.  But I've been whining about maintenance for months now! Kicking Dirt

That's why it's so important to find a plan that you can ease into for life so you have time to get used to always eating that way.  I don't ever want to get so ****y that I feel like I've got a handle on this weight thing.  This is a struggle I'll have for the rest of my life because once my body has been morbidly obese, it will always want to go back there.  Not if I can help it!

I sure did Stac

I felt tears in my eyes several times too. Especially when she talked about wanting to hide herself away cause she felt so fat when she knew she was in the public eye and couldn't hide.

She was so honest and candid that I felt her pain and her frustration with herself.

Bob is SO RIGHT, this isn't just until the weight comes off, it's forever. It's a new way of living.

I am thinking about registering for the world wide cast thing next Monday... what about you?

Did you see her menu? Weren't many carbs or fats in that little selection.  Mainly protien, veg and lean white meat/fish. Plus a tiny bit of porridge for breakfast as her low GI carb. One luch said 'chicken and romaine lettuce' that sounds awfully boring! Hope she isn't setting herself up for someting unrealistic.

I saw it too and it really hit home with me.  I loved that she said it wasn't about the "WEIGHT" but about the "LOVE".  You have to love yourself to think you deserve to take the time to plan your food, eat healthy, make time for exercise.  A healthy lifestyle does take time and if you're always attending to everyone else's needs then there's never enough time for YOU.  That basic concept of self worth and feeling the love for yourself is so important and lacking in so many of us who struggle with our weight.

I am not home to see Sistah O, but she is a she-ro in my book! I have a variety of thoughts about her:

I think she looks drop dead sexy at 200#..I really struggle with WHY she feels she has to be 140. If she feels bad physically, that's one thing. But I recall her Book Making the Connection - and she is like most of us here:  she has to work VERY VERY hard to be 140 - I'm talking running 8 miles 2-3x a week, eat like a bird....is THAT her best life spending hours a day to make her body be that number?

Maybe I want her to be like me...do EYE want to take that "next step"  and become a work out lean machine?

And as for maintenance, yep, i *think* I have after all these years, finally got that point. Whatever weight we aspire to, it is work to stay there. Heck i am killing myself - about as much as I realistically feel i can handle - to be at 185ish.  Ain't small...but it may be reasonable for my body, my life.

I love Oprah and her willingness to be honest once she wakes up to an issue.

She said yesterday that at 160 she was happy and thought she had it made. Now she knows until you learn to love the body you have, you never have it made and even then maintenance is for the rest of your life. I just need to get to a place I'm happy to maintain and figure out how to love this body.

Neecee - she is doing Best Life all week and you could checkout her website:http://www.oprah.com/index
