Okay, Mary or anyone else that can help me. I am looking to try some of the recipes off the Atkins website, they provide parts need off the nutrition label, with the ingredience and recipe, BUT what I am confused about is they give the NET carbs, BUT also provide the fiber. SO, do I still subract the fiber provided from the NET carbs provided??? I am confused, cause there are some that you can have on phase one, BUT are 10 NET carbs for one serving, which would take half of a persons allowed carbs for the day just with that. Anyway I hope I make sense with my questions, I want to start to open my options alittle further cause I am starting to get bored with same ole same ole.....HELP!!

Trisha, NET carbs are what you have left after you deduct the fiber and the sugar alcohols.  So when it comes to the recipes, just go by the net carbs.

And girl, after reading what you've been eating, I'm getting bored with your diet, too!  Taco salad with SF jello?  You aren't pregnant are ya?

Since you are talking about a total of 20 net carbs, I'm assuming that you are staying on Induction?  And yet I see that there are some days that you don't make it to 20 carbs, which issa notso good.  I'd love to see you eating more salads and vegetables.

I can't wait to see how your new recipes work out for you! Perfecto

Heck no I am not pregnant!  3 is enough for me deary!!  No, I am not on the induction stage, I am at 30 carbs right now, I wanted to stay on this amount since New years eve didnt go so well. I was just indicating that I was confused as to why some of the recipes allowed it in phase one BUT had a total of 10 NET carbs for one of those servings, it just would be a waste of carbs to me. But, thanks you Mary for clearing that up. I will keep you guys posted on how the new recipes go. I am looking to find new Breakfast ideas, so I wanted to try their scones, and pancake recipes. Thanks again.Thank You

I have an Atkins bar here in front of me.  It says total carbs 22, fiber 10, sugar alcohols 0, and yet it says 2 net carbs.  How does that work?  By my figuring, it should be 12 net carbs.  Do you know how they can say that?

Hello Sheryl, I have 3 different atkins bars and one 1 of them adds up to the said net carb amount. I am not sure, maybe Mary would be able to answere that, their may be some hidden stuff that need to be deducted. Sorry I couldnt help.

Hey Sheryl, the best that I get out of how the bars are formulated is that Atkins products don't go by the formula for deducting fiber and sugar alcohols. There is a patent pending formula that they use that they are allowed to deduct the glycerin because they have done testing and submitted the formula to the FDA to show that it doesn't raise your blood sugar level, so they are allowed by law to say that your bar has 2 net carbs.  There is a name for the formula but I don't remember it.   Hmm  The entire explanation in on there website.  Have you ever read the forums?  People are always asking this question and the answer is just go by the carbs on the label.

They reccommend to not eat more than one bar a day because they are processed and one of the goals of Atkins is to eat as close to natural as possible.  I find that they slowed down my weight loss.  What phase of Atkins are you doing now?

Hi Mary,
I'm back to doing induction because I went a little wild between Christmas and New Year's eve.
I gained 10 lbs in 8 days, but have lost 8 of it since Jan. 1st when I started back on Atkins.
Today was my first day back to work (I work at an alternative high school), and I didn't get up early enough to make breakfast, thus the Atkins bar.  I keep them in my drawer at work for "emergencies".

Have you tried the new Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch bars?  OMG, it's the closest thing you can ever get to a legal Butterfinger!  It's a shame that I can only have one a day cuz I could LIVE on those things.  Too bad we have to have so many vegetables if you ask me. Cool

Great way to get back on track.  I am sooooo glad that the holidays are over.  That was RUFF!

I haven't tried those yet.  I always have the peanut butter chocolate ones.  They aren't so much like a candy bar so they don't tempt me.  I think I'll hold off on trying the Caramel
Double Chocolate bars for a couple months.  I need to get my sweet tooth well under control first.  I was at my son's basketball team's Christmas party tonight and was so tempted by the goodies there.  I actually was reaching toward the magic cookie bars, but stopped myself and stuffed a slice of turkey in my mouth intead.  Whew!  Thank goodness I survived that one.
I'm glad the holidays are over too.  Back to normal.
I hope you all are doing well.

I was just reading that on the Atkins forum today...if you have a problem with sweets, don't eat the bars for two weeks.  Youze a genius.

Magic Cookie Bars! Fainting

Don't you just love it that a piece of pure protein helps you get through the cravings.  How cool is that?

I had a Christmas Eve party and that was the only time I took off for the holidays, so I'm doing well.  I promised myself that I would go into the new year guilt free and it was one of the best gifts I've ever given masself.  I'm on Atkins maintenance, and I've been doing it so long that I feel like doodoo when I eat a lot of carbs.  Once you get to feeling so good, it's not worth it to feel like doodoo!
