Intuitive Eating - had to share!
We do have to be very cautious with this one in general! Like you, for the most part, that food does not make me feel well physically, so it is not realistic to me any more that I would go back to eating it on a regular basis, and like you I THINK I am okay with that, too. Can't *really* say I feel deprived.
Hey, could that be considered making peace with it? Hmmmmm

#3 does work for me however I generally won't waste calories on foods that I don't think are worth it. The only "NO NO" foods I have are bagels and fruit juice. WAY too many calories and carbs, no real nutrition and just not worth the calories for me. On the other hand, I'll eat cake or pie or ________(fill in the blank) but like Mary said, it has to be GOOD cake or pie or whatever.
I love the list - we can each pick and choose what works for us but the list is a great guideline for ALL of us. I love the idea of discussing one each day or week or whatever.
BTW, I thought Emeril was a cajun chef. Does he make cajun pizza?
oh for REAL! The cals have to be worth it...this right here is why I FREAK on Little Mother effin Debbie cakes - omg, what rotgut crap that is!!!!!! Compared to a homemade choco cake...c'mon....no comparison. Neither SHOULD be eaten a lot of to lose weight, but one is better than the other if you're gonna fall down.
and I know I cannot indulge every little whim of mine, so I do pick and choose too.

2. Honor Your Hunger Keep your body biologically fed with adequate energy and carbohydrates. Otherwise you can trigger a primal drive to overeat. Once you reach the moment of excessive hunger, all intentions of moderate, conscious eating are fleeting and irrelevant. Learning to honor this first biological signal sets the stage for re-building trust with yourself and food.
Believe it or not, i still do not honor this - after all i know, I find that I do in a way, forget to eat. I laugh about that, but really I go too long between mini-meals. Taking a moment to pause here, my bariatric counsel tries not use the word snack - pretty interesting, don't you think, I would guess b/c the word has "eat with abandon" type of vibe - what do you think?
But anyway, back to the OP, I also realized since I never very often anyway, let my hunger get past stage 4 down there in the hunger scale before i get to the irrational state! So, that is the stage of Excessive Hunger for me! What a baby i am!
....I really need to try to get down to at least #3 once in a while - hmmm i wonder if thinking that way tempts the Fates? I mean now, when I am at stage 3, I could eat a kid if I thought no one would miss it! Chissakes, at stage 2 hunger, I would use a gun to get a Little Debbie Cake (and you KNOW how I feel about those!)...number one, call the coroner!
