hahaha, sorry for laughing at your own expense, but I thought that was funny.   Plus I see nothing wrong with dark chocolate once in a while!  Especially a square, I think that is perfect!

Oh but 86% dark chocolate is SO worth the calories, Neecee!

well yeah, and as I say, at that % it is NOT sweet whatsoever! But it falls into the catagory of what I need to be satying away from for a short while.

You know, Hol...for what it's worth, when you say you want now eat healthy, I recommend that  you stick to 3 meals a day, no snacks.  However, you can eat the amount that satisfies you at meals - no restrictions. If you have a bowl of pudding with your meal, so be it. No eating between meals, though.

I was reflecting on the very early days in my food addiction fight.  This is what OA has you do:  eat 3 meals, whatever you want. You may NOT lose weight doing this, but the purpose is to combat cravings and restriction. So many of us get into trouble the MINUTE we restrict ourselves.

At a later point, you may be able to morph off that point to get to dealing more with caloric amounts.

Hey Nee:
I'm not trying to be a smarta$$ but if you restrict yourself to eating only 3 times a day, isn't that "restriction"?  I guess I need to read up on OA 'cuz I know nothing about it.  I often read Denise's post and for the life of me, I can't figure out what she's abstaining from?  I guess I just need to ask her.

why yes, technically you could be correct! and you could be 100% right but what you may not realize is:  not everyone in OA is fat necessarily.

Many folks in OA may even need to gain weight, they are terrified of food and are anorexic. Let's face it, restriction is married to losing weight, no matter how much anyone wants to argue about that - even some fo the fat people can deal with being fat forever - they only want to get hold of their food intake. The purpose of eating 3 squares is to fulfil our need for nutrients and not be tempted to eat all day, unfettered.

In my most disordered days, I was a binge/purger, so my one "meal" started at about 6:00 pm and kept going til I passed out. IF I ate food before that, I never kept it down. It could be argued in my case that some days, not much stayed down, therefore being zero meals. I would be in the bathroom barfing up mouthfuls of foods i deemed "bad"

Abstinence and eating are VERY hard to chain up, b/c unlike drugs/booze, you don't stop eating. But you can define certain foods as triggers and abstain from them; those will be different foods for each person.
