Hello everyone. My name is Jessica. I am 23 years old and weigh a little over 300lbs. At this time last year, I weighed 78lbs more than I do now, but was able to lose that weight through Opti-Fast. It has been quite a few months since the program ended and I currently find myself at an uncomfortable standstill. Right now, I am in a depression and struggling with some severe food abuse. I figured maybe an online forum might be the next step. I know at this point I can't do it by myself.

Hi Jessica!  Welcome aboard!  My name is Janina and I used to weigh 398.  I've lost 135 pounds from dieting and the assistance of my lap band.  My lap band kinda stopped working so I'm back to dieting.

We've all got different starting weights and different methods of madness so I'm positive you can find someone to relate to on this board.  It's made up of supportive, helpful people that can offer you advice to any issue you have.

Please stick to the website for guidance. We'd love to help.

Best of luck!

Hi Jessica,

Hang in there girl!  You have done great this past year so be proud of yourself on your accomplishment!  I also lost on Medifast once before and had a heck of a time on maintenance.  So this makes me wonder...Are you seeing a doctor for your ongoing loss?  If not, can you?  I remember it was so hard transitioning, I really believe I would have done so much better if I had a bariatric doctor to go too weekly to help  get use to your new metabolism.

Welcome to the board, theres a bunch of great people here and I look forward to getting to know you better!

Dear Jessica:

I agree with you - you cannot do this alone.  I would suggest that you attend a few Overeaters Anonymous or Food Addicts Anonymous meetings.  You can find the meetings on either www.oa.com, or on www.faa.com.  Either way,  you can join a 12-Step group which deals with food addiction or compulsive overeating, and get the support of the group, a sponsor, and the program.  Also, you can turn to your Higher Power for help, and believe me, it really works!

I don't know how you feel about spiritual methods to controlling your food addiction.  Some people are fine with it, others aren't.  Coming to this message board is a good first step so you can get some support, at least, and not feel so alone.  I've tried about 25 diets in my adult life, and they just don't work for me, in that either I'm dieting, or I'm overeating.  I never learned to just eat healthy and moderate meals every day until now.  I lost my willpower to diet, after doing it my entire adult life, and at one time, I thought of suicide, I was so depressed.

Good luck to you!
