Sharing

I wanted to share today that I have been doing lousy over the holiday season.  I am a member of OA, and I have not been following God's Will in how I've been eating.  I believe God's Will for me during the holidays was to avoid all the junk food, and eat only healthy food, not comfort food.  At my in-laws, I didn't really have a choice of what foods to eat, since they cooked and served the food.  But in restaurants, I have been making terrible choices, choosing comfort food and eating sugary & chocolatey desserts.  Last night, after my husband and I saw a movie, I insisted we stop at Baskins & Robbins and eat two donuts apiece.  My husband is a diabetic, and he definitely doesn't need this kind of food.  He follows my example when choosing what to eat, and I feel I am ruining his health as well as mine when I eat this way.

I prayed hard this morning to do whatever it takes to be truly abstinent - to refrain from compulsive overeating, and to eat healthy foods only.  I will probably gain weight this month.  I did get a better start today, however, by throwing out the box of chocolate pecan candies and fruit cake in the garbage.  We simply don't need to be eating any of this stuff.  We got the chocolate pecan candies as a gift from Figi's, and the fruit cake from his parents.  If my husband asks about him, I will tell him the truth - we just don't need that kind of junk in our bodies, just because it's a "tradition" to eat it.

Thank you all for your support on this board.  I know you didn't like what I said about my ex-client back in February 2008, but I've gotten over that experience - I hardly even think about him now.  And I am working 31 hours a week now at a new company with only women clients who are very nice.  You were kind of judgemental about that experience, but I know better now than to share anything but food-related subjects on this message board.

kitties...i am glad you are here for support, really I am. Please keep posting and reaching out.

Do you have a sponsor in OA? I suggest that you call her more often.

PS:  Judgement is a necessary evil in this life so that society can function is some semblance of order and generally acceptable direction. Stop bringing this bad choice of all bad choices up, 'kay? Obviously you are not over it and i for one can do without the recurring mental images.

Yanno.. I saw the same thing with my x husband - basically he didn't have food choices, he ate what I ate..  and when I realized that I was poisoning him as much as I was poisoning myself, I made changes to my own diet.. then his... and he's 45 lbs lighter, heathier, more agile and pretty darned fit for a 62 year old man.. lemme tell ya!

I could never tell you to be responsible for a grown man's diet.. lol  I kinda resent it sometimes myself.. it's like. you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.....................  but subtle changes to your own eating habits will have a direct and positive effect on your husband.. I think you know that.  :)

As far as the other thing...  I only offered an opinion concerned for your liability in the matter.  I cannot judge you....    we as humans get caught up in all sorts of situations, and I cannot say that your situation was any more wrong than any of my own.... so since I live in a glass house, I'm not gonna be throwing any stones.  Be at peace with this.. with yourself.. if you are over it.. truly over it.................  it's time to put it in the past.  If this still haunts you.. ya might wanna be praying on this as well!

Good luck to you..... I wish you all of God's blessings for a new year filled with inner peace.
