Stupid question about cheeses
Alright, I've always been confused with cheeses and figure it's time to figure it out. When I read that I only should have low fat or fat free cheeses I get confused on a few things. Is Feta considered low fat? Is parmasean low fat already or does it actually have a low fat version, and same goes for swiss. Then there is mozerella, I'm totally confused since most say it's part skim, is that considered low fat? So is all string cheeses low fat? Same goes for Romano. What cheeses out there are already considered low fat?? I'm confused on this.
It ain't low fat unless it says it is, in my opinion. Mostly I see "reduced fat" cheeses. Especially in parm and romano. I've tried just about all of the low-fat reduced-fat cheeses and I must say they're nasty. lol
You know me though..the hell with low fat dieting. Give me the full fat product and I'll do my best to control my portions. When you start making things low fat you risk artificial ingredients and 'funny scientific things' being done to your food. No thanks for me.

The very nature of cheese is to be fatty. Mozzarella does seem to be lower in fat than most and anything that says that it's made with part skin milk will be less fat than one with whole milk.

I would suggest that you treat cheese as more of a fat in general.

Whatever you do, eat cheese...in general, the health benefits of the animal calcium source and natural digetion enzymes far outweigh the downside, which is caloric boost and sodium. Our bodies do not absorb calcium form plant sources as well, so it is very important to get it animal sourced.
