I had a dr.s  appointment today, so I didn't weigh yesterday, I waited till today. And I'm kinda disapointed in myself. I only lost 1.2 pounds this past week. I know, I know, any loss is a good loss. But I've been pulling in some  great numbers, and I guess I'm just used to that. I was talking to my doctor about it and she said it's typical to experience stalls and/or periods of slow weight loss, but darn it! I was hoping to make it to my first mini-goal today. I still have 1.5 lbs till then.

But on an exciting note, I found out that the starting weight I estimated was wrong. When I started 11/08/08 with  Atkins, I guessed my weight at 430 (and almost thought I was guessing high! HA!) Well my doctor was looking at my chart, congratulating me on my weight loss, and according to her, back in July (7/21/08) I was up to 447lbs!! Which means I'm down 46.5 lbs!!! OMG!! Thats over 10% of my starting body weight lost!! I can't believe it!  I'm super excited about that!

But if anyone (mary, janina, ect?) has any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong that I can fix so I meet my goal (and hopefully blow it out of the water!!) next monday, I'm all ears!! All I can think of is to drink more water, I noticed I was forgetting to drink last week. Don't think that's the only reason, but I havn't cheated, and I've been honest about what I eat when I post it on here, so ??

Only thing I can say is keep doing the do.  Sometimes we go one or two weeks with minimal loss and then dump 5-10lbs in a couple days.  Just keep your chin up and don't get discouraged!

Hunnybuns I read what you eat every day and you seem to be right on.  I can't suggest anything except to tell you to think about Biggest loser - the second week on campus, they always pull low numbers no matter how hard they work out.  It happens, girl.   You're doing great.  1 pound is still an awesome loss.

I know its discouraging when you dont pull high numbers, but at least you are still losing!! Janina is right, I think there will be times when you just doing pull what number you want. I dont know what your daily routine is, but maybe at a little excerise to your schedule. Hey you are doing great, just remember you could still be at your starting weight, but you are not!!!! Keep it up!

Awwe girlee, don't go gettin' your knickers in an uproar cuz you pulled a normal number!  It happens in the best of families don'tcha know?

It's because you were in heavy ketosis for two weeks on Induction and your body was switching from getting your fuel from carbs to getting your fuel from your body fat.  With that also comes the shedding of a lot of water weight, cuz I don't know if you know this or not, but chunkee people sometimes have a tendency to retain fluid and Atkins is a natural diuretic diet.  That's why it's imperative that you get your water in everyday.  Easier said than done I know because I always struggle with that masself.

Now that you are fully into the OWL stage, you can expect things to slow down.  One of the prices you pay for that Indulge bar!  But you are doing so well and you will get back to pulling a slightly higher number, you just have to give your body time for the adjustments.  You done GUDE!

Heather, you sound like you're doing really well and have accomplished a lot in a very short period of time.

I've come to accept my own slow weight loss (though maybe I could speed things up by getting myself to the gym regularly).  It is what it is, and I'll do the best I can and as much as I'm willing to do on a long-term basis.  What I'm doing right now is more or less what I'm prepared to do for the rest of my life, and if that means slow weight loss, so be it.  My eating habits are lightyears ahead of where they were a few months ago, and that's really where I want my focus to be.  I hope I keep losing weight, but even if I don't, in the end it doesn't matter.  No matter what, I can't return to my old eating habits.  Well, I do one day hope to eat a little more, but it will just be more of what I'm eating now - more lean meat, more fruit, more reduced fat cheese, more whole grains, etc.  I've been taking my health for granted for too long, and now I need to do what I can to protect it.  I just need to start exercising regularly!

Original goal: lose 53 lbs.  New goal: lose 68-78 lbs total.

A healthy weight loss rate is a half-pound to 2 pounds per week.  1.2 is a great loss. I've been doing this for 3 years now and let me tell you I have MANY weeks where I do everything "right" and don't see the loss I think I should. Don't let it get you down. You WILL see the results you want if you just stick with it. I promise.

People ask me all the time how have I managed to lose what I've lost and my answer is always the same "never stop, never give up." If I stop, I'm guarenteed to gain the weight back. So I just stick with it.

Congratulations on your loss!

I lost my weight with Weight Watcher's & Zumba. I've lost 302 lbs. You can visit my weight loss website at www.freewebs.com/infectiouslaughter
I'll be in the Jan. 2012 issue of People Magazine's "Half Their Weight" issue!!
