Cleansing...What Up With That?
Well hopefully I won't get bit by the big dawgs on this issue, but this just shows you how different people are and what works for them. I'm no expert in the least, but I do know I have read and watched videos of firm believers of this way of life. Doesn't claim it's wrong or right, just claims it works for THEM. Sort of like Atkins vs Weigh****chers, one doesn't fit all.
I say whatever works for someone, more power to em'! I'm all for someone being happy and healthy however they chose to do it.
My point: Fasting of any kind is not recommended for this condition.
Having said that, i purchased some of Ruth's cleansing drink - mainly cuz it is not truly a fast (from what I know about it) - there are some nutrients and cals and herbs, so that makes me feel better. I have used it the better part of a day, then my evening meal was a light veg soup.
I must say I woke up feeling fantastic, was a bit head-achy during the day of fast, but nothing to ***** about.
A spiritual fast should be about prayer and thinking about God and not focusing on food for a period of time. That makes sense to me, has been done for eons.

On the other hand, this stuff helped loads (no pun intended) while I was experiencing lots of constipation during a brief hyperthyroid state.

Original goal: lose 53 lbs. New goal: lose 68-78 lbs total.
That is where lots of the argument lies...it could be that some folks' bodies are not doing such a good job and need the help of herbs and such.
I am open to that, yet I share your concern about lots of people getting worse effects from not eating/drinking anything.
I do like Ruth's product for that - there is some nutrition so that one does not have to feel weak and dizzy.
I also think once in a while we need to step out of the box and try new things. who knows what product may be on the precipice of greatness!
